you are on UNC Bhangra Elite and VPD committee?? ???
I was wondering who'd be the first to notice. I was hoping this wouldn't boil down to some POL shit, but either way I figured I'd have to address it. First of all, I don't dance with Bhangra Elite anymore. Second, I was a founder of Delta Sigma Iota Fraternity, Inc. - Beta Chapter @ UNC...helping found the chapter at NC State where my little brother was a founding father. I'm just here to help these guys throw a proper bhangra competition, where first and foremost, the teams are truly treated like VIPs. I helped them out last year, just as I am helping them this year. The integrity of this competition and the honor of Delta Sigma Iota Fraternity, Inc. go hand-in-hand, and I would do nothing to jeopardize either.

The boys at NC State do tremendous work in the community, and are highly decorated in the Greek system. I stand by the work they do, and this competition will be nothing short of an amazingly memorable weekend for all people involved.

I hope thats all I need to say about that.

in light of the recent discussions on btf regarding judging at competitions, what's the info on the judges for vpd?

Didn't attend VPD in 2008. Hopefully, its nothing like that competition that DSI organized in Charlotte, NC.
Its sad that I can't even remember the name of that competition because it was atrocious. They didn't even give Pratham the money that they supposedly "raised"

1. DSI did not organize that competition. It was organized by a local high school team. The only thing we helped with was contacting and making arrangements for the guest artist (Bombay Rockers) at the request of the organizers. I dont know where you got your info regarding Pratham, but that is entirely false and I encourage you to cite your source.

2. DSI along with Sikh Student Association of NCSU, did organize VPD 2008, and to this day, I've heard nothing but praise from all competing teams.

Shawn,
We're currently contacting judges and I think the BTF community will be quite satisfied with our choices.

I was one of the "organizers" of QC Dhamaal, the Charlotte NC competition that FireHazard had a problem with. I am also a member of UNC DSI and DSI did not organize QC Dhamaal, rather we helped with the contracting of the Bombay Rockers and were team liaisons...that is it. The competition was ORGANIZED by Myers Park Bhangra AND Pratham..so I don't understand how you say Pratham did not get money if they were one of the organizations in charge.

FireHazard, if you have any questions about what happened at QC Dhamaal and the way things were done, then feel free to email me at skash87@unc.edu.

Pratham didn't get their money. When all the proceeds were supposed to go them they didn't get any of that.

I have nothing against DSI, just the show wasn't organized AT ALL. I'm just throwing out my opinion...
I remember getting more annoyed then actually enjoying the show.

Moderator Note: Orange Bhangra did QC Dhamaal last year, and our registration fee went towards Pratham, 100%. My proof for this? I received an official thank you from Pratham, which doubled as a receipt for a tax deductible charitable contribution. Unless you can offer similar proof showing that the organization did not give money to Pratham, any further slanderous comments directed towards any competition organizers or members will result in BTF disciplinary action. Thank you for attempting to bring back POL. Best of luck to all competing teams at VPD.
