Ok, so you kno how in India literally everyone drinks bottled water. Well, I was wondering what if India were to create a better filtration, etc system to have cleaner water, and all. It seems as if that would be greatly beneficial to the country, rather than spending so much money on water-and exploiting them just so that they can drink clean water!!!!

"Over half of the hospital beds in the developing world are occupied by people suffering from preventable diseases caused by unsafe water and inadequate sanitation." (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/19/AR2005091901295.html)

ok this just seems crazy, that people are dying because we can't take time to invest in the root of the causes. It's like people if you have a cold, instead of trying to figure out why you have that headache, you instead just pop a pill in your mouth and expect it to go away, when if you took a little extra time you realize hey maybe it's because i'm stressed out, maybe its because i need sleep, i dont know whatever the reasons are people get headaches. The situation is the same here, why is that instead of trying to attain a way to get clean water, we just avoid the problem and continue drinking bottled water.

Shouldn't developing countries be focused on such aspects? Here's India probably going to be a well acknowledged power soon, but oh wait go look at all the issues they face. They can't even find a way to get cleaner water???? Sure, that would be a majorly expensive project, but compared to what? Like what is their money going into anyways? (ok so theyre spenind in the same places as the US but have so many more people to deal w/)

but like, so many countries are developing, and it seems like development to them focuses on the economy, when in order to really develop they have so much more to do. What do you think that developing countries need to focus on?

Yeah, the water crisis in India is huge and needs to be addressed. The first step that India needs to take is to, like you said, realize why there is a problem. Most people think that the population is straining the country's natural resources, which makes sense.

India will be hampered by its population is there isnt some sort of control passed forth. I mean think about Africa being one whole country and how their problems are encompassed. Think about if China had any transperency and we could see their problems. These countries with a large population, their natural resources are severely strained. India has made progress in their drinking water, about 86% of the country having access to better drinking water, the problem is that 14% is alot larger than most populations of country. You're right parul, its a sense of get this taken care of if you are becoming a world power. But this is new age superpower's, whose distance of rich and poor will be great

Also, the biggest problem, and maybe the most solveable problem is that the hygiene in India is poor. That just leads to the spread of disease, which is going to led to problems from water being spread.

Its not just about money, its about action, and its about the need to. The fact is those who are suffering at the hands of are the poor, and dont have a voice in where the money is spent and how it is spent. As horrible as it sounds, why would a politician take money out of the government for the poor who wont get anything back in return. Its sad, but this is the reality of the world, for that matter.

I would like to see India focus in on hygiene, teaching it in schools. An idea they did in Africa is to creat water centre's, where hygiene is practice and where clean water can be accessed. It's almost a water to monitor places that people can get water and make sure that disease is not spread. Put them in more rural areas around india, and I think that would make a huge difference.

Water is the biggest problem by far.
