This challenge is between 16. Karan Deol and 14. DJ Concept. The original song is Saddi Rail Gadi Aayi by Mangal Singh.

DJ 1 killed it!

I thought DJ 2 delayed (and abridged) the vocals a bit too much. I didn't like the overall concept.

I was happy to hear this classic song used. I felt it provided both of these DJ's a good challenge.

My Vote: DJ 1

Feedback:

DJ 1 - Loved the build up and echo effect you used for the intro! The first 13-14 second really engaged me. Excellent job with that. I couldn't quite make it out, but there was a voice clip used 0:14ish where some guy said a word (or made a sound?), repeats again at 0:18, then repeats against at 0:22ish - if you notice, that small touch after each verse that Mangal Singh sang made a huge difference to NOT make 0:14-0:29 sound overly stagnant. Similarly, I wish something a little different, but subtle (doesn't overthrow the main vocals) could have been added in the "pare hoja sohniye, o sadi rail gaddi aayi" repetition from 0:29-0:40. I absolutely LOVED the segment from 0:46-1:01 - that was killer. Very unique and unexpected touch given. I felt your fade out at the end was stretched way too long - you could have easily ended it at 1:06ish. There was no need to add another 8 second to the ending imho. Nice job overall.

DJ 2 - I could definitely hear the original song a lot more in your mix. I didn't quite understand what the purpose of using that inaudible vocal clip in the background from 0:06-0:09 was all about. It definitely didn't add anything to your intro - in fact just distracted/disengaged the listener. I think you fell into the EASY trap that this song can make a DJ do basically nothing but speed up up the beats per minute (bpm). In the part of your mix from 0:08-0:20ish you basically didn't do anything aside from speed up the the track. I think that's what makes this song so challenging - trying to think outside of the box & bring more creativity in. I didn't understand what was going on from 0:21-0:30ish - again, it sounds like you didn't change much (or add in much) besides increase the bpm. I like the reptition of "pare hoja sonhniye" used from 0:31-0:33, but I didn't really like what followed afterwards. BY FAR the best part of your entire mix was your ending - the slow down from 0:43-0:58 was just awesome (sounded liked an actual bhangra mix when DJ's slow down segments to emphasize & execute certain moves like luddi or jhummar). I wish you could executed better throughout your mix (not just the ending) - you would have had my vote.

By the way, I was waiting to hear a train horn sound effect by either DJ! Come on guys, we are listening to a song about a locomotive! lol.
