Feedback:

DJ1 - More than often "Less is More". I felt you were trying to play with too many things at the same time. I would focus on doing less things to a mix but more efficiently for a better over listening experience.

DJ2 - You did what DJ1 had to do.

Choice: DJ2

I think too many things were happening in Mix 1. I did like the drop half-way through but I wish it was done a bit better.

Mix 2 was good. I don't understand the intro. The mix was a bit 'lite' though. I wish there was a bit more oomph which Mix 1 did have, I think.

Overall: Mix 2.

DJ 1: Definitely like the first half of the mix, but felt like too much is going on in the second half after the drop.

DJ 2: Wish you added a little more oomph into the mix, but it was still pleasing to hear.

Final vote: DJ 2

Agree with most things said here. DJ 1 layering was way too hectic, DJ 2's intro was very confusing but the mix itself was pulled off correctly (even if it was a little light). Usually adding one extra layer half way through the mix when a drop happens can make it sound more complex

Vote is DJ 2

DJ 1: Forget the layering being a factor, it wasn't even on beat in the intro...second half just absurdly overmixed
DJ 2: The synth mixed in I thought brought the energy down which was main issue. But technically on point, just a bad creative decision

In the balance of vision vs execution, I have to favor DJ 2 in this case. I might not WANT to play DJ 2's mix at a party or at a gig, but I could. Forgettable, yes, but not a problem. I simply couldn't play DJ 1 anywhere without looking stupid, and the 'creativity' isn't quite good enough to overcome that

so DJ 2 gets my vote

Sorry for the grammar errors but here is my opinion of this challenge and the Btf mixer overall Dj 1mix might be messier but the whole point of a mixing ladder is to push the mixing envelope .. If everyone just slaps a beat behind a song and goes ok I'm done then this really isn't a mixing challenge. I like that he took the time to think of something creative by adding a drop and putting layers and not only thinking of the beat behind the song but adding a funky meaning to it . Dj 2 might take this round but for the remainder of the mixing ladder people need to step up their game

imho, the song Freaks already has so much going on in it that using it to layer is risky. Finding an instrumental and messing around with that instead could have potentially worked. When the gunshots and horn came in, in the second half of DJ 1's mix, I have to agree that it all sounded a bit muddled.

Because of that I'm going to go with DJ 2
