Please vote on which mix you like better by posting in the thread below. There's no poll. You must have a minimum of 10 posts to vote. Votes must be in by 11:59 PM PST Tuesday.

This challenge is between 5. Sangeen and 3. DJ Jassi. The challenge was to create the best Bhangra segment: that is, the best fast segment possible. The original song is Putt Jatt Da by Jassi Sidhu.

DJ 1: worthless intro of 12 seconds haha, give me my 12 seconds back! If you had started at :09 would be perfect. Great lead in to the bass and instrumentals, hits so hard. Could definitely see saaps to this. But the vocals only dropped at :47 sec! That's so little time with the actual song I feel a bit cheated. The intro was great, but the actual verse/chorus parts of the mix were only ok because Putt Jatt Da doesn't really fit the feel (production is to pop-happy UK). And I think the pitch may be off also but it wasn't that bad so good work there

DJ 2: Intro was busy and fun, but felt bright, like there were no mids or low end. There's very little bass line and subbass. Light fun mix, and I have a soft spot for Iyaz-Replay. I think it definitely could use some EQ and some low-end but overall the mix kept the feel of the original song while complementing it.

I think DJ 1 had a better technical mix but the concept didn't match the song. DJ 2 was kind of bright and I missed the punchy beat that we love to see in team mixes. But it was a better concept that fit the song. Hard decision, but if I had to pick one to put in a mix and compete...I would have to pick DJ 1's mix over DJ 2's clean but non-punchy mix.

DJ 1

I can see them, it's embedded soundcloud. When you say you can't see them what do you see?

DJ1: The hek from phull lag gaye doesn't match the tone of the vocals but at the end, the song is fruity as hell and no one wants to mix it haha. Did a fairly good job of keeping the hype level elevated. It made me want to dance and that's the key of this challenge.

DJ2: Mirroring Swi's comments on the brightness. It really missed the ball on creating an energetic mood. The kick pattern isn't regular enough to start jumping up and down. Although the replay sample fits fairly well, it smooth-ens out the vibe and serves as a good chill track.

For the sake of the theme of the challenge, DJ 1.

DJ 1: Good job with the hype factor, lots of potential for being used in a team mix.

DJ 2: Clean mix! Replay song flows well together, has a chill vibe.

Considering the theme, DJ 1

This was a tough one, but I think I'm gonna have to go with DJ 2. I liked the hype DJ 1 had (also agree the intro was useless) and everything was pretty good until the actual song started. It pretty much seemed like it was a entirely different mix where the bhangra song happened to be thrown in at the end. It's more difficult to actual execute a mix that utilizes the song predominantly rather than drown it out.

I thought DJ 2's use of replay was awesome, but yeah the kicks weren't getting my energy up. This was a good listen but not so much a good dance

Going by the aim to make a fast paced bhangra segment, and shadowing on comment above,

DJ1

Tough choice with this one.. especially since the theme factors in. Both mixes were good, but I think that DJ 1's intro wasn't necessary. The mix itself was pretty banging given that it hit hard but had that slight out of pitch feeling. DJ 2's mix was lacking this hard hitting bass and wasn't EQ'ed properly. If there was more mids & bass in DJ 2's mix, then I'd have definitely gone with that.

My vote is DJ 1.

Pretty good job by both mixers.. everything that I wanted to say has already been said, so to the mixers, read the critiques! Again, considering the theme, which one could I have dance to more? The answer to that is Mix2.

So, DJ2.
