DJ 1 - the pitches did not really mesh properly for these two songs, it sounded like two songs rather than one actual mix

Dj 2 - This mix did not need to be two minutes long, was not engaged after the first 45 seconds. Also the transitions into instrumental sections is super weird like at :45 and 1:39, they just come really abruptly. The dhol was a nice addition but thought it was a bit loud though that's just taste and preference. Don't know why you just randomly cut off the song at 2 minutes right when he's singing.

Gonna have to go with DJ 1 since it at least was more interesting

My vote - DJ 1

DJ 1's mix needs to be pitch-matched. Also, it seemed like the build up/drop didn't stand out as much which made the mix seem flat throughout. However, when compared to DJ 2's mix, this had more hype.

DJ 2's mix was quite long and the middle instrumental sections could have been put to better use by adding vocals and playing around with the EQ/flanger/stutters to create some hype to the mix.

DJ 1 for being more creative, although that synthy sweep throughout the entire mix was annoying. If pitch matched correctly and used more dynamically I think it would've been better

Mix1 has some really great potential. I thought it was creating some really nice highs and leading to a drop, which unfortunately never came. But, I would love to hear a full mix with those synths leading to some nice highs/lows.

Mix2, was waay too long. It was long compared to what should be presented in this comp, and given same-ness the mix exhibited throughout. I liked the dhol, but something a little different in the middle to make it differ from the original would've taken it, I think.

Vote: Mix1

Feedback:

DJ 1 - As a lot of other people mentioned above, the pitch issues really bothered me. It caused your mix to sound very messy. I liked the movement of sound from right to left speaker during your into. You suppressed the vocals a lot which wasn't pleasing to me. You had some nice effects thrown in at random times, which helped you enhance your mix and not keep it very stagnant/boring. I liked the repetition effect used at around 0:31, but I wish you speed it up as it went on (in other words - it would have sounded cool going from slow to super fast paced). The ending was nice, but you used way too long for the build up - it started in the background from around 0:31 and lasted all the way up until 0:50. I wish you would have added a bit more low end bass at 0:51 as you shifted into your outro.

DJ 2 - I like your intro a lot more than DJ 1. The slow down of the lyrics repetition of the part that goes something like "tere ya haatheliyan nu chum da raman" was great. The dhol beat in the back starting from 0:14 was nice, but it got old pretty quickly. I wish you had done something to change it up because it sounded quite boring by 0:43. From 0:46 until 1:11, you again decided to use a different type of dhol loop and that too became too stagnant for my taste. You slowed things up even starting from 1:13 and your transition into this segment was quite smooth (didn't stand out - which can easily happen when you're adjusting the BPM or tempo of a song). My absolute favorite part of your mix was the transition at 1:39-1:44 (which is from the original song), but it sounded great slowed down - just wish you had increased the volume for the transition instead of after it. 1:44 until the end sounded like much of the same - I got pretty bored due to how long you decided to make your mix. The guideline is roughly 1 minute in length for a reason!

I honestly wasn't a huge fan of either mix, but I gave it to DJ 1 for creativity and not boring me completely, despite the severe pitch issues. Fix that for next time my friend! Trust me, you will NOT be able to able to squeak by with issues like that week after week.

Hope this helps,

~ Basim :)

DJ 1 though I think this song could have been mixed a lot better - the first track seemed to have a lot of work left to finish and the second track didn't have much of a point as a mix
