Why aren't there bid competitions/a national comp for bhangra?

Basically the title of the thread, probably a newbie question as I'm sure it's been asked before (couldn't find it on a BTF search, though).

I know that it used to be that different cops attracted different teams with different styles (traditional vs modern, etc). Plus, there is (?) a caliber difference between collegiate and independent teams. But would it be possible to start a bid comp system like there is with Bollywood teams/Raas teams (not completely familiar with those circuits)

There could be multiple "national comps" one for independent, one for collegiate, tradition, and modern. Kinda like how there's WBBC and Blowout but to my knowledge those aren't bid comps.

I just think that this could increase the hype behind bhangra and the circuit, possibly.

Feel free to shoot this down or tell me I'm wrong. Just tryna throw some ideas and take up the challenge of putting myself out there.

Completely agree, our team is new to the circuit and we were wondering this exact same thing. If the circuit were more similar to the raas/bollywood circuits, I feel like it would help out with teams that have different backgrounds. idk, we're not super knowledgeable about how it's currently organized either, but it'd be cool to hear what others think

The thing about national bid comps is that it takes a HUGE amount of organization on a national scale and a great deal of coordination between competitions. Also the Raas and Fusion circuits are mainly collegiate and therefore have an even platform to create and run a national competition. Since we have a large number of independent teams who do not necessarily compete for the whole year, it is kind of difficult to organize a bid competitions.

Also creating a bid competition naturally makes other competitions inferior. There is no desire (at least I have felt no desire) to create an overarching competition to overpower other comps as each individual competition has a completely separate title associated with it. Bruin is MUCH different from Motor City and there is not really a great way of determining which winner is of a higher caliber since that is wholly subjective. The fusion circuit is pretty homogeneous in terms of what kind of performances are displayed and the same goes for raas. So for someone to accurately judge an overarching comp for them is a bit more realistic.

Finally, there are upper tier comps that somewhat fill that role. Elite 8 was there for a while until these past 3 or 4 years. WBBC was a huge deal while it was around (not sure what happened this year btw). Idols used to be huge until SGPD, ABC, and NJ kind of fell off the map. But I mean the list is huge. As for comps still going strong, Burgh, Bruin, Blowout, Motor City are all pretty big and sort of give you the "best-of-the-best" feeling. With these competitions already in place, I guess a lot of people don't really see the need for a bid competition with a point system etc.
