Hey BTF!

So this is my first real post here, but I'm Azwad (Wadz) and I'm an in-house mixer for Princeton Bhangra who's been mixing on-and-off for about two years now. I've recently had the opportunity to do the full mix for Princeton Bhangra (which will be up in the weeks to come) and also created my first non-competitive mix for the winter:

I'm always looking for feedback as I'm somewhat new to the mixing game, so feel free to let me know what you think and share any suggestions for improvement in future mixes! I primarily use FL Studio as my DAW if that's helpful.

Thanks!

hey azwad!! Great stuff man!! Glad to see that Princeton Bhangra now has an in-house mixer making their mixes. I use FL Studio too so if you ever wanna talk about that or mixes in general I'd be happy to have a conversation! Keep working on things and don't be afraid to experiment!!!

@srikarran, do you know how to do that slow down effect in fl studio

example in song: 1:55 - 2:05
The example you provided isn't technically slowing anything down. Its just moving from a dhamaal beat to a chaal beat at the same tempo (BPM).

However, if you want to slow your mix down for a portion of it, here's how I do it in FL:

1. Go to 'Tools' > 'Macros' > 'Switch realtime stretching for all audio clips' > Confirm Yes
2. Right Click on the Tempo and Select 'Create automation clip'

This creates an automation clip on your playlist that you can automate the tempo with. Automation clips in FL are really annoying but for bhangra mixes, you are definitely gonna need to use them.

FL Studio doesn't let you manually enter BPM values into the automation clip. But here's how I go around that. Each time I want to change the tempo, I set the project tempo to the desired tempo, right click and copy that value. Then I choose the point in the project I want that tempo at and then right click and paste. This makes sure I don't have to guess the tempo value using the percentages method that the automation clips use. I'm hoping FL studio changes this in their future updates.

Hope this helps,
Srikarran
