I used to be a sapphire tonic person, or just beers usually. Like Blue Moon or Hefeweizen with an orange in it. But recently I discovered A) Orange Tic-Tac B) Midori Sour C) Long Island Iced Tea. All good options.

If you did pregame, an exported beer, such as Corona, Heineken, Stella or Dos Equis, along with one well drink, like vodka tonic or whiskery sour, should keep you feeling good the entire night. If you do feel yourself starting to loose that buzz, immediately take a shot, or order a drink on the rocks (i.e vodka on the rocks, black on the rocks, or jack on the rocks). It is strong, but its well worth it.
If you did not pregame, shots will be your best friend. Shots such as SoCo and Lime, Four Horsemen, Liquid Cocaine, Flaming Lamborghini, and Tequila will get you tipsy, fast. Also, I find that, despite the mess it, "bombs" are a good way to go. Irish Car Bomb, Cherry Bomb, Jager Bomb, Sake Bomb, Mexi-Bomb etc. are always fast ways to get the job done (chugging a shot and a beer will 9 times out of 10 get you drunk). End off the round of shots and bombs with a Blue Long Island Iced Tea and you will be in business.
Disclaimer about Tequila. Patron is overpriced at bars. If you want a tequila shot that is better than patron at a cheaper price, order a shot of "1800 Silver." Anything with less quality than that, your asking for a bad hangover the next morning.

Sangria/Chianti if said party has some sort of food thrown in the mix
Depends on the occasion/my mood. Often (but not so often) I'll go to a party and the most I'll drink is a coke.
