hey kinnel and amit,
thanks for the interest so early. i helped start desi dhamaka about 5 years ago, and it was a purely local albany show. i stopped being a part of the show after 2004. i came back this year to check it out, and was appalled about what i saw. like you said, drexel or even you guys at rochester should have gotten 1st. siena, my old team, was shockingly bad, and i almost vomited during their performance. it has been a problem with the show, as basically every year, the home team wins, as it has been rotating sites. so i got in contact with anil, the organizer, and we resolved to revamp the show. i listed every problem you mentioned, and about 10 more haha, and it will be a different show next year. it will be legit this coming year, i assure you, and will be a purely bhangra show, as they are planning a separate fusion show. we will be getting qualified judges, preferably peers who are up to the date with the scene, not the very unqualified people they had this year. to get on the mailing list for it, as we would love to have you be a part of the show, just email me, sulman.aziz.mirza@gmail.com.

I would have to say scariest thing I have seen is the APD dude falling from the top of the 3 man tower during Bhangra Fusion 2010 (Obviosuly unplanned)...I guess there is something about that competition coz the same happened with them in Bhangra Fusion 2009...

I was really excited when they hit it at Bayside coz that was the first time I saw them hitting it live...

Yeah APD...you do your thing..

@Piarpreet Kaur - No offence at all...but I think NYU Pandemonium carried of the guys not wearing paghs REALLY well...
For your reference: NYU Pandemonium Jhoomti Shaam 2010

I'd hate to be known as that anti-NYUPandemonium dude, because I am far from it. Nonetheless, akshyz, NYU Pandemonium is not a bhangra team nor do they strive to be one, so we should not hold them to the same standards as one. We watch them as a fusion team.

Had they competed like that at a bhangra competition, the performance would have gone down as Piarpreet mentioned, one of the worst things done by a bhangra team in recent history. The only reason we look the other way is because they are a fusion team.

There is no "good" way to actually get away without wearing a pagh during a bhangra performance. It adds so much to the performance and the personality of the dance form. It would be like trying to get away with dancing without smiling - It may happen sometimes, but there is no reason not to.

i am sorry man, but i still think what i said... no pughs?.....naaaaaaah it just doesnt work out, for as good as the pandemonium might have performed. its part of an identity and without it u dont only lose that but also the movement that you get when you have a turla on and shake your head, it gives so much more personality to the dancers...
