    Pataka/Dhamaka Footwork

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuwSYh5FaKk What up, Given that there are tons of instagram/tiktok videos going up, I’m starting to see this Pataka/Dhamaka footwork issue more and more. Made this video a while back and posted in DDN, but now that i’m seeing it a lot more in the bhangra scene...

    Plea to all Competition Committees

What's up, I have judged 3 competitions in the past month and a half. 2/3 comps had teams come into the judges meetings saying they had issues hearing their own mix. This is ridiculous. If I put myself in the position of a current captain/dancer, and I'm spending anywhere from $35 - 65 per...

    Training Exercise Ideas?

I should also add: if the team or certain people cannot accomplish the footwork of a step, they'll never be able to do the step. Footwork is everything. It allows your body to move and flow into and out of steps. Without the footwork, everything above the waist will be effed. Focus there...

    Training Exercise Ideas?

Don't hinder the future by not having them learn a routine. They need to learn how to learn a routine. So my suggestion: Teach them a basic/no variation segment as fast as you can. Please ensure that the steps flow into each other so transitions are not abrupt. And as you keep practicing...

    Difficulty Forming/Motivating New Team

No problem! https://www.amazon.com/John-C.-Maxwell/e/B001H6NROC%3Fref=dbs_a_mng_rwt_scns_share Since it's your first time, I highly suggest reading some of his stuff, and doing research on how to lead. Leadership skills will help in all areas of life, not just bhangra.

    Difficulty Forming/Motivating New Team

When we started, we leveraged gigs. We barely could get 6 guys together for a practice. We'd take maybe 4 to a gig. But those gigs got us into the community light. We would always ask for donations to help get us started. Any events, grad parties, sweet 16s even doing them for free because...

Crafting a well run competition: A dancer's perspective.

Burgh lighting cues: However they did it, and whatever they used for lighting should be used everywhere. They let us detail when a cue was to happen down to a millisecond. they opened our mix on audacity, located and made a marking when a cue should start and stop and they programmed it...

Raniyaan di Raunaq - Official Placings and Feedback Form

When judging, it's nice to see these stats and make deliberation points from the premise of "we as a panel thought this" and point to the numbers. From a spectators view, I like seeing what teams scored better or worse in specific areas. It also gives us some light into what teams specific...

Sup. We call the footwork "pataka or dhamaka" footwork. -Start your dancing from the stance they start in at the beginning before they start dancing. -Notice that they keep their feet pointed out. We call it, feet in a V. All bhangra steps should be done with feet in a V. -When your feet...
