What up! First thing you should do is go through these and know the names of beats and know what they sound like: https://www.youtube.com/user/howtoplaydhol/videos
That is not all of them, but a good place to start. Once you have a decent idea of what they sound like, start watching some...
I may be painting a pretty wide brush here, but the mindset and attitude of the competition doesn't seem to be consistent among board/teams/judges given the apparent disconnect. Unlike say, a Motor City or a Bruin.
I have not watched any of the videos properly to be critical of this years...
No. Absolutely not. We've seen in the past when judges do this. It does not end well.
There has to be a playing field which all teams are judged equally too. That is the rubric. No team should have to predict what a judge is going to do. And that is why we have a rubric. So all teams...
What up BTF!
Will post a burgh review, but wanted to give a shoutout to the tech crew and committee for getting these guys. However they did it, and whatever they used for lighting should be used everywhere. They let us detail when a cue was to happen down to a millisecond. they let us open...
lol nah. i'm just tryna see where the discrepancies are. who didn't get in where and what teams did and try to guess why might that have happened.
Pointing out MBT as the only example isn't enough. I think we should want to see more before we all agree that this is an ongoing "trend"
Fair enough. Ain't nobody gonna convince you guys lol. We all are talking in hypotheticals. Maybe one day if logistically it can work, we'll make it happen.
Til then, keep doin what y'all do. It's so much fun to watch.
What I put in bold is something I, personally, applaud ya'll for. Something that we've strove to do. But I'll tell you, judges more often than not, on this side of the Atlantic reward simpler/safer over complex/messier, regardless of how much more entertaining it may have been. Growing up as...
What up. Lots of good, fun, trolly discussion going on. Wanted to compile some thoughts and see what ya'll think:
Set creation:
- UK sets are wild. They're nasty. Formations are ridiculous. Mechanisms are so sick. I haven't watched every single UK video, but at least the placing teams in...
We've been interested in coming to the UK. We spoke to some folks who have tried to apply. The sentiment has always been that the organizers won't take a US team over a UK team because of ticket sales. A local team will sell a lot of tix, versus a US team selling 0. Even spoke to Harjot...
sup. just decide you're gonna be 100% on each beat of your set. perfect form, perfect nakrah, perfect energy etc. Aim for that every run through. Watch your videos and see every beat where something dips. notate that and in the next run through, know when those dips happened, and make sure...
