Congrats on the placing. Like I've said in the past, it's crazy how quick you guys are getting better and better. There's a good amount of creativity in this set. Love the vardiyan. A bit reminiscent of SGPD, but I think they have their own appeal too.
Just a few quick thoughts on the performance:
There were some good ideas for formations, but honestly, a lot of it just didn't hit because it was way to fast or way too forced. It felt like you guys were running through formations rather than dancing through them. When you do formation effects, make sure there is some breather before you jump into another one. When dancers are struggling to hit their spots, the dancing suffers and the choreo just doesn't look as appealing as it good have. Also, there are way too many circle formations. Given the creativity of the set, I have no doubt you can think of other effects other than variations of going in circles.
Also, way too many waterfall effects and pick-up effects (aka one group doing something while the others stop and then others join in in groups). Do maybe 1 or 2 MAX. After that, it just gets repetitive and makes you seem desperate for "quick gimmicky effects".
What I liked about you guys at WBBC is that you guys had a match-up call-out in almost every segment. Unfortunately, at any other competitions, when most of your "x-factors" are attributed to another team (and without the context of the match-up), it does very little to add to the credibility and creativity of your own team when you sit down and watch the performance. It's unfortunate that both competitions were 2 weeks apart, but I guess that's life. The "tall man" gimmick is still sick, but the middle one is the only one that really hits because of the difference in chaadre color of the outside two and some of the sloppiness on the outer two in getting the kurta on correctly as well. As a viewer, there's a difference between knowing what the gimmick is suppose to be and seeing the gimmick working. Having a bit more time to get the other two just as clean as the middle guy would be worth it. The silver banner that covers you guys is sick and could be used as a gimmick in itself. I'm really happy you guys used this way to change because it does look sick on stage and it's super unique as well.
I think overall, if you had slowed down the routine by 10%, added 1 or 2 slower, softer, more graceful segments, spaced out some of the sicker formation effects, replaced a few of the PANJ/Vancity call-outs and axed all the waterfall effects, this would be a much, much better set. I think dancing quality has a long way to go - there's a lot of not-lifting legs, bent squats, not-full extensions, lack of modhe..etc but I think the fast-pace of the set was the culprit for a good amount of it. You guys have creative ideas - really looking forward to seeing what you guys bring to Bruin!
PS - Chaadres were a better than WBBC, but still gotta fix them!
