I saw how like everyone been saying that you guys should change up your set, its getting old, etc but i dunno if i just see this but i watched there bruin last year vid and this vid, and like i see changes. They did make changes to make this more entertaining in a way a bit more dancing was involved than acting like they were last year. Yes they do there stunts, gimmicks, etc and thats all the same but that goes for every team! Ever team that i know of well lets just say MOST teams they keep there main ideas and just revolve around that to make it better and thats what apd is doing in my opionon. They keep there stunts, gaddi gimmick, etc but they changed things up a bit to add more spice so i think they deserve a bit more credit that what there getting right now. Plus i thye placed 1st in all there comps from what they do shit i wouldnt change it either ;p haha just my 2 cents but as far as the bhangra i told you guys i dont like the style but i give you guys loads of respect in what you do and how you stick to it and not change it and still place comp after comp promps ;)

Just curious to know Fookera and JunglyJatt would you two not have had an issue if APD had used a big box to "throw" their sapps into when they switched props behind their sign? Is the issue the fact that they threw them or the fact that they threw them into a garbage can? Would it have been an issue if they used a different receptacle, like a black/red/white box? In any case, another question I had for Fookerah is that you said that their khundaa segment shouldn't count because half the team is holding up a table from home depot, then what about when teams do a sapp/khundaa segment? Is that satisfactory to you as a bhangra expert or do you feel that teams that do that are lacking? Just curious "homie" =)

Also curious as to what team you dance for (@ Fookerah), because one that incorporates all of those elements you mentioned in the way you say they should be incorporated, must be an amazing team to watch! Post a link to a video so we can all learn!!!
bharathi, i think the issue was that they threw it into a "trash can". in the first place i dont think a "trash can" or a "box" was even needed. if im not mistaken they had the same banner at bayside and i dont think they used a "trash can" or a "box" they could of just put it down into the back more, where no one would be close to it being that they were never gonna go behind the banner again anyways. just the fact you know what a "trash can" represents kinda upsets people. having a suite case would of been better choice to have up there then a "trash can" to put the saaps into haha but i mean after winning all those first place cash prize i think they can afford a better proper display to put their props into if they actually wanted to lol.

All I'm saying is even cardboard box would have been more respectful then GARBAGE CAN. Don't matter if they took them out or not it just symbolizes disrespect for the art

sgrewal30, your intentions are honorable, but your reasoning for your arguments are quite flawed. Let me explain.

APD is a MODERN team, so they will dance MODERN. They do competitions that they think they are capable of doing or are a challenge they would like to face. If professional judges (meaning judges with enough background in bhangra to leave competing teams statisfied) think they are worthy of first place, then SO BE IT! If you feel they shouldnt have, what honest difference does it make?
Welcome to BhangraTeamsForums, where we often discuss placings and offer our own opinions on performances. If we didn't, then the "Bruin Bhangra Results" thread would be without replies. Yeah, we are not judges and we shouldn't make comments on placings without watching all performances. (ie: watching just one performance and claiming it should have won doesn't really make sense) But we can still offer our opinion on performances, even after placings have been announced. It is up to the teams to decide whether to take suggestions to heart and if BTF users disagree, then they can discuss it.

The "let it be" or "let it go" posts are weak sauce. Thanks to the rantings and arguments of the users of BTF, we have seen teams take critiques to heart and improve by miles. And honestly, I, personally, have learned a lot from other posters who disagree with my opinions. (Wait till HarmanSingh finds out whose been pumping him with karma :) ) It's only when arguments are illogical, irrational or personal do we need to take a step back and walk away. (see: Fookera's reply)

The competition is OVER! And the placings are not gonna change cuz your kachi is in a bunch!! They work JUST as hard as your team, they love bhangra JUST as much as the next team. Who is anyone else to put them down because of it?
We're not looking into how much APD loves bhangra. Just because a team really loves bhangra doesn't mean we can't dislike aspects of their performances. We're not doubting that they don't work hard.

If you are raping their video over and over, finding flaws, then DAMN they must be doing SOMETHING RIGHT.
That's not true. That's not true at all. That doesn't even make a drachm of sense!

As posted a few times in the thread, the conclusion was that APD must be doing something right IF they have been winning trophies competition after competition. These may be modern competitions with modern judging rubrics with judges that may be looking for more creative elements in routines, but they're still doing something right in those judges' eyes. Shubh's point is very valid in that their routines from the past few years are based on a formula, but that will never affect their placings until it becomes a component of judging rubrics.

sgrewal30 said:
Even I'm a fan of traditional bhangra but, are you looking at a traditional performance? No, so get it out of your head. Making check lists as a way to shut "haters" up is pointless.. the only "check list" that matters is the judge's.
Not true. It's not pointless. In the age where many teams are not 8 man live, many judging rubrics will allocate points to choreography that has traditional elements. Hell, many people often times argue whether a performance is traditional or not based on how many of these elements these teams will incorporate. The fact of the matter is that it's obvious now that APD tried to incorporate many of these elements in their routine. They may not be traditional because they are not 8 man live, but they now have traditional elements, which may help them place higher.

sgrewal30 said:
Yea, the routine is getting old... with the same stunt, same general choreo, kj style, and gimmicks but they have been getting first place time after time with that same old routine... If you knew your routine would bring in the first place spot... would YOU change it??
Depends. See argument: Trophy vs. Street cred.

sgrewal30 said:
but what would you do if people said this about your team?
That has nothing to do with anything.

lol wait but isn't a "trash can" a container with garbage? were they throwing their shikke into a container with garbage? THAT would be disrespect. but that container had no garbage to my understanding. how is it a trash can without trash?

You either love APD's style or you hate it. Personally, I hate it. None the less, congrats on executing what you do and winning first place.

My concern with this performance is APD does the same thing year after year. Always predictable. Guy standing on another guy's shoulder on one leg, with the rest of the team revolving around him with sapps. 30 seconds later a platform holding up another stunt. 30 seconds later a car gimmick involving a steering wheel. 30 seconds later a gimmick in which one side pauses and the other does a move and vice versa. Lastly a big stunt with one guy climbing his way up.

Once again like I said, i may not be a fan of your style but I respect that you guys do what you love. But if you told me this was Bruin 06, I'd believe it... or Blowout 08...or Fusion 09. Same moves, same stunts, same outfits, same everything. I think it's time you guys challenge yourselves some and do something different. I personally can't watch any of your performances because they are all the same.

By the way, any reason why your dholi doesn't wear a bhangra pugh?

true dat....guys i totally respect ur bhangra...but seriously....now it seems like a circus
