What's the deal with this guy?? How the heck did he become a world judge?
I believe its a self-proclaimed title. Just like every competition claims to be the "next biggest, baddest bhangra competition", he claims to know enough about bhangra to be a world judge. Just like the competitions, there is no organization to justify or award such titles.

I've been to his dance studio in chandigarh. In terms of "bhangra" as we see it, its straight bollywood status. The instructor the day I met wasnt Punjabi, either. Not that non-Punjabis cant do bhangra etc., but you'd expect a Punjabi teaching it in the Punjab, and as far as the imaginary goes, a sardar at that.

I really do love how every bhangra competition is going to change the way competitions will be run! There will be a revolution! Its going to be sold out! Nope :)

If Indians didn't have an interest in Rifle Shooting, India would still be without a gold medal in the Olympics to this day. Be thankful. :)

And since when does having spiritual values make one a loser? lol

The fact that he has high spiritual values but spends his free time (hobbies) shooting rifles amused me that's all.

Idk but spiritual value to me, especially in terms of Sikh culture, is meditation, family love, service to the community, etc. Wouldn't really be fondling with loud dangerous weapons that's just me

JustaGuy...he could be doing clay shooting. I don't think there is any problem with that. As long as he isn't hunting and killing animals, I don't see how its an issue of his spirituality.

True. But each person will find spiritual value in their own way. If he feels closer to his religion and find solace by shooting, I don't really see anything surprising in that. And in addition, there is no connection implied between the two in his biodata. It isn't stated that he finds shooting soothing to his soul - they can be two separate activities. And each person practices their religion in their own way. We shouldn't judge how one finds solace.

In Hinduism, there is a story about a devout man who is also a butcher. When asked how he can be so spiritual yet still kill, slaughter and cut up animals every single day, he replies that he is simply following his dharma and there does not need to be connection between the two.

Harman, just curious. You bring up killing animals as an issue of ones spirituality. Just curious, are you a vegetarian?

Not sure why we are discussing Mr. AC but Kinnell the exact point is that shooting is not his dharma or duty, it is specifically his hobby of *choice*.
