I would highly recommend the committee to go with some judges that I have worked in the past as they can provide great feedback to the teams after the competition.

A mix of modern & traditional judges inlude: Pashi Singh Malik, Saleem Malkana (Both of New Jersey), Gurpreet Nanua (Rooh Punjab Dee, Toronto) Govind Rangrass (Michigan), Dr. Teginder Dhanoa (California) and few others..

Bayside Bhangra,

I'm going to put you guys on the spot here but I'd like to very respectfully inquire, what are the credentials of your judges? Most importantly, which teams have they performed with? How and why are the artists from your competition judging?

To judge a bhangra team - at the very least you must have been on a bhangra team to appreciate variables such as form, execution, stamina, formations, etc (to name a few). For dancers, everyone starts with no bhangra knowledge, then they learn bhangra, understand what it means to be on a team, eventually they get better, become educated about bhangra, how its properly done, become captain, become coach... the ultimate crown is get selected as a judge. How does someone become a judge by skipping all those steps?

My personal suggestion is that your next judge should be an ex-team member/ex-dancer who is well educated about today's bhangra scene and can give his/her input as a dancer. Just my 2 cents.

Otherwise, I think you guys seem to have everything on lock and looks like it will be a very nice weekend. Good luck & I hope you guys have a great competition.

Thanks for all the responses and feedback. We will be contacting those who were listed.

In response to Waleeds post:
- We really appreciate your feedback and it makes perfect sense. Our panel currently is not finalized, hence we sent this post. We completely understand your question with the artists as judges, of the two, one will be chosen and we have a pretty good idea on who it will be based on their experience and knowledge in what you mentioned, experience on a team is crucial, and is one of our deciding factors.

We are aiming to comprise a panel that we are comfortable with before we finalize and announce it to teams, and to be honest, we are still not there yet. We want to make sure we are targeting the right individuals to ensure our judging is firm but includes open mindedness with a balance of modern v. traditional.

I hope this helps, and we appreciate everyones input.

who is parbinder dhaliwal and luvdeep randhawa ?
Members of a Vancouver based band.

Can I suggest ex VIBE members Lucky Toor, Sonia Basi-Toor, Tanya Basi or Preet Sandhu? All very VERY experienced dancers and none involved in any which way with any current competing teams. You might also use their potentially more modern views on bhangra to complement your current host of more traditionally inclined judges?
