I have a feeling it might be aired of Cspan..but not sure. I read an article that Sanjay Gupta from CNN will be there, so they might air it as well.

I agree, Empire has pretty much gone out and beat almost every single team that they have competed against, now its time to take bhangra to a different level.

Congratss!!!!! Woohoo ashveer,omer, nav!!!!!

thats wonderful, but wish they got a live team to perform! no knock on empire, just that usually westerners who havent seen bhangra have a greater appreciation for pure folk bhangra because it's so different and not remixed with things they might've already seen or heard. the effect of a live dhol, singer and band can't be replicated with a cd. still, at least we got a team from the bhangra scene in the white house! BIG step

also great thing that dr. manmohan singh is getting an honorable invitation to the white house. props

Hopefully PM singh, being the bhangra enthusiast that he is, who watches youtube vids of teams, doesn't get up halfway through their performance and say "I TOLD YOU TO GET VCU!!!"
As long as empire does Sial Koti to Rail Gaddi again, I don't see how PM Singh could even fathom the thought of wanting to walk away...

cool stuff, must be exciting for Empire.

But I love how no one cares about what Obama and PM Singh will actually discuss or what the meeting is about. If Empire wasn't performing odds are most people wouldn't even know they were meeting. Instead of being disappointed that Heeray isn't performing or VCU isn't performing how about being disappointed that Obama hasn't pulled the troops out of war or PM Manmohan Singh hasn't done enough about the perpetrators of the Sikh genocide? How about being disappointed in issues that actually matter instead of what team will perform for Obama?

This meeting is a big deal, but not because Empire is performing...

well probly ppl DO Care but they didnt write about that on this thread, given the topic name (title of the thread) and the sort of website that this is...besides, one person posted a link several posts above describing the meeting and the agenda/what they will probably be discussing..i have reproduced it below. Your point is well taken though - i do hope everyone looks into the main reason he is coming as well as the good news about Empire :)

I'm not sure it's that no one cares...the thread was just really about Bhangra at the White House...

Yesssss.

It would have been really nice to see that instead of something poppy. It is a good thing that they were invited, but a folk live performance would have been amazing.

Well, i've been doing some work for my company in regards to this. There might be some discussion on how indian companies are in the US and create business here as well. I'm with the Tata Group, so i heard our VP and stuff might be there. who knows really! My brother was invited for his legal stuff, but couldn't make it :(
