That guy straight jacked the name of the competition held at UB, wow.

EDIT: Just went through the thread, holy shit, that is crazy. Some dude just scammed all of you under the Blizzard name? You guys should've known it was a scam, Blizzard was the comp that was held a couple times at UB a few years back.

The scam was under "Desi Dhamaka" organization, competition was called "Desi Dhamaka: Bhangra Allstars". I think the drama unfolded on this thread because Anil Prasad started organizing and planning Bhangra Blizzard before he had paid out anything under Allstars. To my knowledge, he talked to the University of Buffalo folks about using the name Blizzard.

It's not like this was a scam or he had bad intentions from the beginning. For whatever reason, whether he was at fault or not, he had a poor turnout and was unable to break even, pay the three placing teams and compensate judges. Teams and judges were not financially crippled because they performed at this one event. The three placing teams competed, got recognition, had a great time and continued to compete and thrive at other competitions.


Anil Prasad will need to live with the fact that he is not a man of his word. Whether or not this still haunts him should no longer be a concern to us. He is gone. All-stars is long over. BTF has documented and made an example of him. Now, it is time for us to just let it go. I'm not defending him in any way, but to say things like "he robbed people" makes the community look naive.

disclaimer: i was part of blizzard when none of us ever knew Anil, he wanted to help us with funding and organization to bring the competition back, but obviously was not capable of that. i am not trying to defend his actions at all for what happened at allstars, but this honestly this happened 2 yrs ago and needs to be dropped, especially if ppl are going to just complain and not act (lawsuit or what have u) i know most of u guys dont really care enough to pursue it and that this forum just provides a platform to vent, but, life moves on.

This is still basti yo. Bhangra Blizzard should come back legit. I'm surprised this whole thing even happened. Bhangra Blizzard is UB's event since the very beginning.


I just hope everything is settled and cleared up now.

haha, but saleem, if you decided to press charges, wouldn't legal fees themselves be a deterrent? I mean, whatever you finally manage to get out if him (if anything at all), will it even be worth the hassle? i have NO knowledge of law though, so i have no idea what the proceedings are, but just a thought
