ahha yea they had 2 new dancers going there and performing for a first time so that makes 4 dancers that are in grade 12 that are now on sgpd.... i think

Show was AWESOME. First time I got to see a lot of the local teams and SGPD dance live. Absolutely the BEST organized competition i've ever seen. Like someone said earlier so many camera angles, really quick team swithes (no long delaying speeches in between), the venue was decent size but AMAZING, sound was a little low for some teams but still amazing atmosphere with the SPIRIT squads. Probably one of the best ideas at a bhangra competitin ever.

As for the teams. Since no body posted a review I'll give my 2 cents. Although i was sitting on almost all the way at the left end of the 5th row, still really good seats.

Panj: Came about probably 1-2 minutes into there routine. Loved the micheal jackson gimmick. Gurveen did an AWESOME job as MJ. Everything else about the routine was just seemed like a mediocore version of bash. And i feel like you guys are doing less and less bhangra every competition. More gimmicks and unusaul ideas in your routines. Deepak was sick. Straight up best performance hes had. Didn't think you guys were going to place, and you didn't. Also if you're going to do bhangra competitions may I suggest trying to use your OWN dancers. Might be easier and then you'll have less to complain about when a dancer drops out a week before. What do you expect?

Duniya: MUCH BETTER Duniya girls then last time I saw. More experience and talented dancers, maybe just a whole lot more practicing. Nice gimmicks and clean. Formations were decently clean you guys had a couple of mistakes. All in all defianetly an awesome performance and you guys could place in your next competition.

AVA: Some decen't chorography. I don't remember the gimmick though. Very messy and some of the formations didn't really make sense. Just seemed like they were moving randomly. Used 2-3 toronto dancers I belive from Shan-e-Punjab. But the rest of the team wasn't even close to their caliber. Nothing really stood out. Definately have some potential. But should consider using local dancers even if they are weaker...team building...not stacking. Keep practicing though, you guys are still young.

ABC: What can I say. I love you guys. I was mad suprised when we beat you guys at bulldog. And i thought u guys had a REAL good chance at winning. WAY cleaner and better then bulldog. I thought so for sure. BEST GIMMICK OF THE NIGHT. Just based on how well it was dnoe. I was standing and screaming for it thats for sure. Wicked nakhre too man. Definarely deserved 2nd if not a tie for 1st. :)

P.C.B.C.A.: I never saw your guys global performance but this was a sick routine. Much better then B2B at DDA. Clean formations and everyone picked up there game in this performance. Kammy is possibly the best dancer in BC...I would put money on it. Definately deserved to place. One thing, NEW choreography. Seems like the same stuff we always see just differant songs and some differant formations.

Kohinoor : Honestly don't think that if you practiced for 2 days you guys even had a chance. Nothing happening...formations were off, dancers were off, should've just dropped out.

Punjabi Beat - Much better then bulldog thats for sure. You guys seemed like you wanted it more at Idols. The gimmick was solid with the cannon and freddy crougar and jason?(maybe micheal lol). You guys just need to work on more formations and some more creative choreography. You guys are good on music and should keep it that way. Try to just improve your intensity as well. All in all, awesome job.

SFU - Dare I say that you guys were...ALMOST traditional! BEST SFU YET! I'm tired of seeing random ass bs (sorry for being mean) that didn't make sense in bhangra...you guys did an AWESOME job with your new routine. But stamina KILLED you guys. And Erin got fat...(i love u). Glad to see you guys still rocking awesome formations and nakhre. Just work on stamina you guys should be able to place anytime soon.

SGPD - Do I really need to say how good they are? Is it even necessary? Fuk u guys...I'm retiring (its all love) lol. When they asked you guys how long you took to prepare and you guys said 8 hours a day 5 days a week IT SHOWED. That's how bhangra should be done. Good formations and solid choreo. Gimmick was the only thing that I thought was weak but hey you guys did get MOST ENTERTAINING. Congrats on first.

Jawani - Str8 up skill. I'm glad theres a girls team still around that pwning (yeah i said it). Excellent formations good choreo. The only thing i would say that you guys need to work on is everyone dancing at the same level. You can see that they're some girls stronger then others evidently. And I know with the work attitude of Jawani you guys can have those girls up there in no time. Congrats on 3rd ALTHOUGHT I would've tied you guys for 2nd.

I think that's all the teams. I just wanted to add one last note. Watching videos on youtube and criticizing teams doesn't work. When you see the dancers on stage POURING their hearts out thats what matters. Sometimes I think BTF is the problem with bhangra. In my review I dogged on some teams, but every person that danced out there deserves credit. Props to everyone who competed at Idols.

You never really know the whole story behind a team when you see them at a comp. Granted what happens on the stage is all that matters- but I don't think it's your place to say "try using your own dancers" or w/e. Maybe their normal boys couldn't make it for whatever reasons. Maybe the dropout guy broke his ankle. Who knows! So yeah it sucks that they couldn't practise with all 12 guys for weeks, but it is what it is and I don't think what dancers they used is any of our business. Just my 2 cents

Like you said, they poured their hearts out and gave a great entertaining performance. All that matters

I dunno if anyone agrees, but after seeing ABC's bulldog video (and also their previous videos), they have good ideas and have the right mindset for a winning routine, but I don't think the dancers are up to par with the routine itself. I feel like the dancers are still missing a lot of bhangra nakhra and style and its sloppy at times. At many points in the dance various people stand out because they arent putting in enough energy. Don't get me wrong, you guys have held your ground and definitely made a name for yourself and I'm proud of the team for doing so, and I wish them all the best. But I think they may want to work on strengthening their individual dancers. It seems from the video many of the dancers are pretty young? With practice I think they'll grow in to it. I've def been a proud promoter of this team since they started out and they've come a long way. Good job this season! Just my two cents.

Cheers.

....usually PANJ, and especially not me, dont come onto BTF and try to explain ourselves however today just seemed like the perfect opportunity ;)

To whom it may concern,
PANJ had 10 of their own dancers on that stage and one other who had REQUESTED to compete with PANJ and travelled all the way from Seattle to make it to practices. One of our OWN dancers, Ronny, got into a car accident and so we replaced him with another PANJ member. If Idols didn't have a minimum age requirement of atleast 16 yrs old, we would of had the whole stage covered with our finest dancers.

Also Idols required 3 stunts and a gimmick and give great importance to entertainment value, thus we had to balance "Bhangra" with entertainment. However, with PANJ we dont limit our imagination and dont put boundaries on what bhangra is and isnt.

Any knowlegable and well experienced bhangra dancer knows how "folk" PANJ is. I apologize if we don't kick our legs 10 feet above our heads and over kill graceful moves and stick out and not dance like a team, and do matrix like choreo and dance to music that we don't understand. But to each his own.

Anyways, congrats to all the teams, this weekend was amazing and can't wait to see SOME of you at future comps :)
