Hi everyone,

I'm Ricky the coach of MMD. I just got off the phone with Prabh Saini and felt the need to have to post about this. Firstly, the only person on this forum that is allowed to post on behalf of MMD is from this account only and would only be the two coaches. @THE REAL JAGGA JATT. it's nice of you to try to defend us however way your trying to but I don't need you to do that, or anyone else for that matter. If I have any issues with BIT 6 I call up Nawab and Prabh directly and they've shown me nothing but respect so far and I have as well. Whatever happened at the judges meeting (which has been blown out of proportion no surprise) is already being discussed with the organizers and doesn't need intervention from anyone. If you guys are discussing another team that may have been treated a certain way go ahead I just wanna make sure my team stays out of it. Congrats to all the teams that placed.

Lastly @Sukh_indocan I have a name learn it and use it :) If anyone would like to message me privately please feel free at Instagram ricky.s90. I don't check BTF messages.

Goodbye everyone!

You're right, judges can call the organizer if there is a problem. But what would be better - the organizer being already present and handling the situation on spot, or having to wait for the organizer because they're busy with something else? I'm not saying the organizer SHOULD NOT be there, but even if they are, what's the problem? What's the difference between having the organizer already there than calling the organizer because of a problem? At the end of the day, it's the organizers competition, they do what they feel is right and what can get things done fast. I'm not saying you're right or wrong, but every organizer organizes their competition differently. Lol Prabh isn't mature? Yeah I guess so, because Prabh just has to go on BTF and complain about competitions and judge's decisions

Hello everyone,

My name is Hardeep and I was one of the judge at this comp

First of all I would like to make few things clear here for all of you from Judges Video call!!

1. Judges meeting through Zoom Video call No question raised by MMD this is what we going to bring on stage. IF YOU HAVE ASKED AT THAT TIME I WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE GOING WITH COMP CRITERIA WHICH IS MADE BY THE ORGANIZATION.

2. Mixer Day - Coach took a part in Mixer game with knowing that He shouldn't be in it. We asked him are you dancing tomorrow He said no! we asked him to send the people who's dancing. SO WE GAVE MMD SECOND CHANCE

Prabh explained about Dhol Segment game very well.... Team didn't followed what need to be done with live Dhol.... We all gave them Zero and plus We asked prabh to show them what they need to do.. Another second chance given by us.

3. Comp Day - 7 teams followed the Criteria was given by ORGANIZATION... But sadly MMD DID NOT FOLLOWED EVEN 40% LOW SET ACCORDING TO OTHER PLACING TEAMS... ALL THE SEGMENTS WERE MORE LIKELY ON SAME PACE - MIX WAS OKAISH LITTLE PROBLEM WITH TRANSITION SOME OF THE PARTS WERE NOT CLEAR! OVER ALL THE SET WAS NOT A PLACING SET

4. JUDES MEETING: 3 PEOPLE WERE THERE 2 GUYS AND 1 GIRL --- FIRST QUESTION ASKED ABOUT PLACING WHEN WE TRIED TO EXPLAIN THE COACH STARTED SHAKING HIS HEAD IN A WAY WHATEVER... WE ALL IGNORED IT FIRST TIME THEN GIRLS ASKED ME
THAT YOU PLACED US AT FEVER?
ANSWER: EVERY COMP HAVE DIFFRENT RUBRIC PLUS OTHER TEAMS HAD MISTAKE SO YOU GUYS GOT SECOND PALCE.

5. THEN THE COACH - ANOTHER WHITE SHIRT GUY AND GIRL VOICE TONE TURNED TO AGGRESSIVE WAY THEY DIDN'T WANTED TO LISTEN WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY RATHER THAN LISTING OUR POINT OF VIEW. THE GUY IN WHITE SHIRT STARTED STAYIN OH I DANCE A LOT I KNOW THIS AND THAT.

6. THEN THEY TRIED TO CHANGE THE TOPIC BY RAISING FEMIN DANCING STYLE AND GUY DANCING STYLE WE TOLD THEM STRAIGHT UP YOU PEOPLE ARE NOT PLACING BECAUSE OTHER TEAMS HAVE MORE STRONGER SET THAN YOURS.

7. THEN IT WENT TO THE POINT WHEN 3 OF THEM STARTED TO BEING RUDE THAT TIME WE HAD TO CALL COMP ORGANIZER PRABH AND THEN HE STEPPED IN AND TRIED TO EXPLAIN ABOUT RUBRIC BUT 3 OF THEM FROM MMD DIDN'T WANTED TO LISTEN. THEN THEY LEFT WITH SAYING WE KNEW THIS IS GONNA HAPPEN... MMD COACHES IF YOU KNEW THIS BEFORE YOU SHOULD HAVE NOT TOOK PARTICIPATE IN THIS COMP.

8. THE CROWED OF THE HALL AND PAMMI BAI APPRECIATED THE LITTLE GIRL WHO DANCED 1 MINUTE ON STAGE WITH TEAM.. NOT THE ENTIRE TEAM.. THAT LITTLE GIRL IS AMAZING DANCER.

AT THE VERY LAST LEARNING IS THE KEY TO WIN...

IF ANYONE FROM CORWD - TEAMS HAVE ANY PROBLEM OR CONCERN HERE IS MY CONTACT NUMBER FEEL FREE TO CALL 604-771-2301... I DO NOT MIND FLYING BACK TO TRONTO AND GOING OVER THIS AGAIN!!! ALSO WHO EVER POSTED WHATEVER NEXT PLEASE BE REAL WITH REAL NAME AND CONTACT..

I WON'T BE CHECKING THIS FOR FEW DAYS DUE TO WORK AND STUFF PHONE NUMBER.... ;)

Moderator's Note:

Please let it be known that @Saleem and I have discovered a user abusing their BTF privileges by creating more than 6 fake accounts to clearly bash judges, organizers, and tarnish the "Bhangra in the 6ix" competition name.

All of the following accounts originate from the same source and were created by the same user:

I can see the title now on the next discovery channel episode:

Studying the Mind of an Insane Bhangra Fanatic, episode 1.

This is absolutely ridiculous. First this guy creates all these accounts then has the audacity to point the blame my way. KEEP IN MIND I served my suspension from btf without raising a complaint, so this completely unwarranted.

Hello Everyone

My name is Neeli also one of the judges from Bhangra in the 6ix.

I would like to start off by congratulating Shaan Punjab Dee for organizing, yet again, a fabulous competition. There was amazing energy, enthusiasm and positive energy throughout the Comp weekend from volunteers, liaisons, competing teams, and audience members. Thank you for putting this competition together and I was honoured to be apart of it again :)

I wanted to address this thread but not sure how accurate it is now given the moderators post above. However, I am sorry for the experiences a team or teams may have had at this competition that may have resulted in you feeling like the comp was “robbed”, that there was “favoritism”, etc. But Let’s not throw these words around loosely, as the judges we did our duo-diligence to ensure that the placing’s were reflective of bit6 vision, rubric mandate, and what was showcased organically on stage. We definitely had a tough job at bit6 to scale such amazing performances in the respective placing’s but overall we know and feel confident and content with the outcomes of the placing’s as they were all well deserved.

To Hardeep’s point the judges meeting with this specific team was getting out of hand where communicating with the team became very hard as they were aggressive, hostile , and quite upset hence why we called Prabh in. And it is really sad to see how badly Prabh was bashed for stepping in as an organizer to try to control and de-escalate the situation. Prabh was in no wrong we asked for him to be present.

The reality is out of a line up of many strong teams we only have the ability to place 3 teams. The teams that placed demonstrated exceptional adherence to the rubric and they did this through their composition and execution of their sets with sub-aspects of choreography, form, required segments, complexity etc. And all this was under the umbrella of folk/traditional Bhangra! Nonetheless, all teams that competed at bhangra in the 6ix brought their A game, there were awesome performances across the board.

However for the individual or team (not sure who started this thread) it shouldn't warrant bold and serious accusations of a competition being discriminatory , placing's are strictly a contained matter that only have to do with your set and performance not about your gender, alliances, etc. ... because trying to use this to rationalize why you didn't place is more detrimental for you and your team , than it is to one comp. and honestly this circuit is above and beyond this, .. girls teams and co-ed teams are killing it more than ever in the circuit today!! shoutout to SMD that brought a beautiful/graceful live Bhangra set , Florida bhangra for killing their first ever performance as a team, UVA di Shaan, UMD, our local girls team MMD and their little rockstar !!

And all I can say from a judging perspective is that we are 110% positive that No teams were discriminated against because they were an all girls team or co-ed team or boys team (ridiculous).. in fact last year an all girls live team took first place at the same comp with 2 of the same judges that participated at this years panel again! So once again if this is the perception or interpretation you got that girls teams or co-Ed teams were mistreated or misjudged based on gender or how a team is constructed, It’s completely wrong .. we judged BHANGRA! Bottom line. Ps.Haven’t heard anything concrete about placings at this comp. being an issue.

Congrats to Soormay, NJ folk lovers, and NGPD - Live :punjabi Lok Nach and NJ Elite well earned placings !!!

Thank you to all the audience members, dancers, and supporters that provided positive feedback regarding the placing’s and the show (outside of this forum). It is great to always receive constructive feedback that is both positive and negative to further improve on annualized competitions. :) I am more than happy to provide further feedback to teams that request it. Neeli_grewal@hotmail.com

And I highly encourage teams that this individual is or was speaking for to share your thoughts with the organizers as I am sure they would honour any form of feedback from you all.

Much respect to all of you who are still apart of the Bhangra circuit, in whatever capacity you contribute to it !

Thank you :)

Goodbye.
