On another note, looks like the judges are up as well: http://bhangraintheburgh.com/event/judges

Great lineup except for Teginder Dhanoa. I was really hoping he wouldn't be judging again this year, based on my past experiences with him, he should not be judging any coed competitions. His biases against females and North American bhangra are way too narrow-minded and shouldn't be part of a judging panel here.

I agree with Dheerja here...he has expressed his opinions about females in Bhangra in the past which support the notion that he has an inherent bias...I'm weary of how he will just put it aside to judge...

Burgh line-up is always controversial. If it ain't controversial, it ain't a Burgh line-up.

Atinder Cloty - "...He has done Traditional Bhangra for his high school team 5 years in a row"
Baljit Toor- ".... She received classical training in gidha and bhangra from elementary school until she attended Punjab University in Chandigarh"
Govind Rangrass- "...he trained for one summer with the Punjab Agricultural University’s Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Bhangra Team in Ludhiana, India."
Teginder Dhanoa- i don't even need to say anything about him.

4/5 judges are traditional judges, Helllow?

Ironic.

lol

This is completely unrelated and there a lot of interesting points in this thread that I want to read more thoroughly but I just wanted to say I love the Burgh website . Clean, easy to navigate, and aesthetically pleasing.

Also, on a more relevant note, I def can see both sides of the situation regarding applying teams. Teams that have made a name for themselves obviously have a lot to offer and have proved it, however new teams need the opportunities to do so if they submit solid application material. Every comp committee has their criteria and I guess that helps to make each comp unique.

I'm sure it's gonna be a great comp cause where there is bhangra, there is YAY. Good luck to all the teams!
