As of now the tasks that I have asked of Govind are:
- Helping us with disseminating knowledge he acquired while staying with the PAU captains in Punjab.
- Also Govind, I forgot to ask you in the email but can you post any articles that you might have.

As of now the tasks I have asked of Taiymur are:
- The videos, preferably in full bhangra attire.
- Video explaining each piece of attire, ex. chadra, and how you tie it.

Anyone else who is willing and able to help Govind and Taiymur are welcome just ask them first.

I hope we can really complete this, this project will help out Bhangra immensely.


Another thing, Anyone who has high quality pics or just really cool pics of bhangra teams in full garb, please post them here or send them to my email, just private message me for my email address.

The video they played at Cornell is about 3 minutes long and is very high level, but it was done in ppt or imovie - there's no actual video, just photos with voiceover.

I suggest we get a new name than "Bhangra Presentation". If there's anything that needs to be adjusted, let me know. I used clips of AEG, HPD, UBC Girlz and Bhangra Empire. If any of these teams have any objections, let me know as well.

Hey man good teaser, I like it. Yes, I do think a more relevant name would be better. Something like "Bhangra: Its History, Traditions, and Basics" or something?

What will be better and easier for you in the future is to keep each segment distinct and modular, so that it can be navigated (unlike youtube). I'm not sure how you want to distribute it, flash? maybe you can find a package for different videos like http://web.splashcast.net/ which is what sobTV uses, it seems.

Looking forward to seeing it develop!

Thanks Saleem, I appreciate it! Yeah, eventually, I will make separate videos for each segment for easy navigation. A flash interface can be easily created and such, but embedding the videos within one swf file would create a HUGE swf file and the video would lose quality.

Thus, I expect the final zip file to consist of Video1.avi, Video2.avi, Video3.avi, Video4.avi and then a Interface.swf for example.

Yeah, what's the status with this?

I was going to make my own short one (25min or so) to show to new team members, which would just be a Powerpoint and links to some relevant youtube videos. A sort of "Bhangra History in Punjab and in North America" slideshow...I would have to utilize Wikipedia mostly haha, and then i would physically demonstrate traditional, standardized moves so the newbies know what I'm talking about (damn i wish bhangradistrict was still around).

What's up with this project?

We could all use this is at promo/recruiting/non-desi events. It'd be handy

Maybe a super short literal intro: 3-4 min max
Then one for interested people: 10-15 min

I can help write stuff (short, simple, condensed text). Can I get an email, I'll send some "What is bhangra?" stuff I've used around campus and for spoonsorsbefore. Includes hiistory + modern day prevelance (basically why it's such a big deal! lol)
