Jordan was a complete dbag in his speech, much like he was for most of his career. Listen to David Robinson's speech and then listen to Jordan's...you see who is really appreciative and sincere and who is up there to toot his own horn and is still bitter and (for no reason) insecure.

I hate how people are doggin in MJ for his hall of fame speech. So what? He's MICHAEL EFFING JORDAN. HE EARNED IT. Everyone is saying how egotistical he is. When people say "MICHAEL JORDAN IS THE GREAT TO EVER PLAY THE GAME", he has the most humble answer. He answers by saying he based his game off of cats like Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, David Thompson, Dr. J, etc. He didnt have the opportunity to play against the greatest to ever play the game. Magic and Larry Bird were at the end of their careers when Jordan was just getting started. This is key. His humbleness when he answers such a question goes soo unnoticed. Of course people are gonna take shots at Jordan, because they can. They're gonna take a few things he said and twist that shit and run with it. all the other parts of his speech when he mentions Jeff van gundy and Bryon russel are jokes. Jordan was and still is a class act. For an athlete who was so damn successful he isnt Half the douchebag that he COULD be. I read this other article on yahoo of some dude just bashing jordan like crazy and saying how MJ was rubbing in all his accomplishments..........If Bryon Russel wants to be a b*tch about being called out, it serves him right. But from what Im reading he wasnt offended by jordan's words, rather honored. Its funny though because he got schooled back in 96 and got his balls handed to him in 98 when the finals were on the line. And now he's STILL calling out Jordan haha. Its all good. He took it in good taste. And no matter what Michael Jordan says, he will ALWAYS be the greatest athlete of all time. I've gotta admit I got pretty emotional watching his speech. I was even more sad than i was when he retired for the LAST time.

Wait, so because MJ is the greatest to play the game (which I agree with completely) he has the right to publicly try and humiliate other GREAT players (like Isiah Thomas and George Gervin) AND the GM who put incredible talent around him (Krause)? He is still unbelievably bitter and even dug into Dean Smith.

For God's sake, it was a hall of fame speech. How about going up there, thanking your family and friends and the people around you who put you in position to be the greatest? Instead, he used it as a forum to call out former players and coaches. Jeez, let the chip on your shoulder go and be humble and appreciative for once.

Actually, if you listened to the whole speech he did show appreciate for people who put him there. his parents, his brothers and sister. The dude was, a grown ass man, was freakin crying as he was announced. The dude never publicly called out the ice man or isiah for freezing him out of that all star game. He was shouting out memories from his career that made him who was throughout the course of his career and who he today. And why the hell should he thank Jerry Krause? The guy was a first class douchebag, HE shoulda been thanking Jordan for carrying such a successful organization and bringing 2 3-peats. SIX rings. Jordan should be thanking him?! Last time I checked when a player carries your damn organization and brings your household income and making your team name the MOST POPULAR on the planet, YOU THANK THAT PLAYER. I don't give a crap if the bulls go 0-82 next season, they will still sell tix, merchandise because the name JORDAN gave the chicago bulls.

That yahoo article was actually pretty well written. It brings up a lot of points about Jordan that no one ever wants to discuss. You gotta read book about his last comeback, "When Nothing Else Matters", it is fascinating as hell and gives you an insight about how the same drive that put him at the top also made him a dick to a lot of people. He maybe the greatest 2 guard ever but he also rubbed a lot of people the wrong way with his arrogance and the fact he got away with a lot and was never called out on it by the media since they had so much invested in the Jordan brand for ratings and money.

I really liked David Robinson and Stockton's speeches, those two are true gentleman and even though I hated their teams I loved those two.

It is well known Jordan was one of the biggest divas and assholes in all of basketball throughout his career. A Hall of Fame speech is not the time to air out your grievances with everyone that ever looked at you wrong. It is a time or appreciation and humility. He cried, yes. But he then went on to call out 20 different players and coaches for every little thing they ever did to him. Poor Jordan, he was so wronged!

Please, you are the greatest, we know it. Now quit being a dick. To me, he just looked insecure, bitter and vengeful.

And after being the worst GM in basketball, you would think he would appreciate Krause a little more for getting his unbelievable talent around him.

Wasn't Krause the main reason jordan retired the 2nd time? And why Phil Jackson left the bulls?

Damn media blows everything out of proportion. This was Michael's Hall of Fame speech, he is allowed to say anything and everything that he believes brought him to that platform. You cant please everyone.

I totally agree with Laddi, its not like MJ didn't contribute enough to the game. Ok so he's arrogant, but doesn't his play back it up fully? Kobe has a dash of arrogance as well, but it is tempered with humility like MJ's. They both have the same response when they are told they're one of the best: "I'm just trying to be the best I could/can be." Jordan's speech showed me the inner-workings of a champion: he was fueled by rejection. For the man that MJ is, he could be a gigantic douchebag but he isn't. He's got the jumpman logo, he made gatorade famous, and he practically invented the 1-4. If that was me i'd be singing and dancing everytime i was on TV and doing stupid reality shows like Flava Flav

It's simple folks, he OWNED everyone on the court, and he straight OWNED everyone off the court... He is the worlds most famous athlete, the world's first billionaire athlete, the 2nd most dominate athlete in history of any sport... Michael Jordan has earned the right to speak his mind anytime he wants regardless of what platform he stands on... Those who are crying over his remarks are just plain jealous that he never played for their franchise... Even when it comes to speeches, no one will ever forget Jordan... He is a true businessman in every aspect of the word. On a night when the Jazz put two members in the hall of fame, Jordan still shined over that clusterfuck franchise... God bless Michael Jordan... I've had the honor to meet him, and it was truly one of top 3 moments in my life...

Everyone that he was talking about he was good friends with anyways... He wasn't bitter towards anyone, I don't completely understand how the practically undisputed greatest basketball player of all time could be considered bitter... That doesnt really make sense to me, but I think he was more saying how each of them, with or without knowing it, contributed to his career by pushing him to achieve greater heights. Pretty sure it wasn't meant to be completely serious either, he was just poking fun at everyone within his stories like a roast somewhat. Just my 2 cents.
