Do you seriously think Pippen would be a top 50 player without Jordan? Do you think you would've heard of BJ Armstron, Toni Kukoc, Bill Cartwright, Hoarce Grant, John Paxson, hell even Luc Longley, if MJ wasn't there? Jordan is THE ONLY 2 guard to win a championship on his own. Even Kobe can't do that. Recognize greatness

no offense, but I love how Jordan haters on here are coming from the same places that Jordan CONQUERED. Detroit, NY, LA....Biggest chicago bulls rivals. Jordan had these teams hanging from the tuttey. Jordan definitely had help from pippen, no doubt, but you have to understand that Jordan's PERSONAL accomplishments unparalleled. He had 9 all defensive team selections. Did he need pippen for that? nah, that was sheer hard work from the people who told Jordan that he was just an offensive player. he had 10 scoring titles. Did he need pippen for that? Nope, that was from the people who told Jordan that he didnt have a shot earlier in his career. he had 5 MVP and 6 Finals MVP awards. Did he need pippen for that? Sure, he definitely helped in his own respect, but those came from his unmatched leadership abilities and his skill in making his teammates better. Do you honestly think Steve kerr woulda been someone had he not had the opportunity to play with Jordan? What about Ho Grant? John paxson? You get my point. Pippen, although he was an AMAZING player (my second favorite player ever)was not a leader, thats why he was always in Jordan's shadow. Thats why when jordan retired, and Pippen had the opportunity to carry the bulls, he didnt go far.

Pippen was an amazing player and I really do think he would be a Top 50 player without Jordan. Jordan will be the first to tell you he didn't win on his own, he needed the triangle, Pippen and Phil around him to achieve his full potential. Those Bulls teams were perfectly tailored to compliment Jordan and Pippen and that is due to guys like Krause and Jackson. Those Bulls teams were teams in the truest sense, especially the 96-97 version.

Nobody is doubting Jordan's on court greatness or legacy. He is the greatest SG of all time and helped globalize the sport of basketball. People just want to point out to his ball washers that most of his public image and persona is carefully crafted and fake. Like the story of him being cut from his basketball team as a sophomore that people love to bring up, is actually a lie. His relationship with teammates is not as rosy as it appears. The Hall of Fame speech should have been a celebration of his career and it is just sad and showed his pettyness that he had to put others down during it to try to prove a point that is irrelevant.

If it were you what would you say? He kept it real, told stories that he remembers from throughout his career. If he would've just said, Thank you everyone who helped me achieve this and walked off, or just said something generic and flowery and walked off stage... I dont know about anyone else but I would think that would've been very anticlimactic and i would've been dissappointed.

IMO, without the Bulls, maybe Jordan wouldn't have achieved AS much as he did but he still would've achieved alot. Without Jordan, the Bulls would have achieved nothing.

Well if you think about it, they were together through the peak of each others careers... So I don't think that's saying too much.

I think there is a high chance that without Phil and Scottie and the Bulls that MJ would have come up with no championships. Say they bring in another coach instead of Jackson back in the day and they draft someone else instead of Pippen (who Jordan did not want them to draft) that could have led to MJ not having an opportunity to develop his team because his teammates around him sucked ( a la Lebron ). He might have gotten frustrated and went somewhere else and his career path could have been much different. Often the best players in the game had tough times winning championships because basketball championships are incredible testements to the team.

The Hall of Fame speeches shouldn't be about entertainment value or keepin' it real, no one will ever accuse MJ or keepin' it real anyways. When you are inducted into that basketball fraternity you owe it to yourself and to the other members to be dignified, he cheapened the night with his comments and going after people.

Actually, did anybody see Peter Vescey's speech? Holy shit that was the most hilarious 30 minutes ever. That should be what people are talking about.

He most definitely has the right.

I think this says a lot of his work ethic

I'm a Lakers fan, HUGE LAKERS FAN, big time Kobe fan. But Jordan is the G.O.A.T.

You guys do realize that no one is questioning Jordan’s achievements right? I mean really, we get it. He is a great player and the best player of our life times. So please, relax with the stats. I mean jeez, Jordan groupies are down to ride or die for the guy.

The point I am making is that he was completely unprofessional in his speech and was out of line in disrespecting so many players and coaches on such a public stage which is meant for appreciation and humility. Being the greatest doesn’t give you the right to disrespect the game by saying stuff like (“there is no I in team, but there is an I in win”, to a generation that has taken that WAY too far and half ruined the game) and by disrespecting your peers and predecessors. A little class goes a long way, and Jordan proved once again he has none.

This isn’t about people from Detroit or New York not liking him because he “conquered” us...because he conquered the entire league. By the way, if not for the 1990 Pistons repeating, MJ may have had 1 more ring in his collection ;). I would call out Isiah Thomas for doing the same thing if went up there and berated former players and coaches during a Hall of Fame speech.

Regarding Pippen, he was a stud. Jordan didn’t make him a top 50 player, just like Scottie didn’t make Jordan the best, they both fed off of each other, benefited from each other and were great in their own rights. I mean really, Pippen put up something like 22 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals a game when Jordan retired. The guy was a defensive beast and was an unbelievable talent who almost won the MVP that season and just fell short of a trip to the NBA finals without Jordan.

Imran, yes we would have heard of Kukoc if not for Jordan. He was the biggest international star playing basketball at the time (Euroleague MVP and Olympic star). He was a remarkable player with or without Jordan and paved the way for guys like Dirk Nowitzki. And keep in mind in addition to having Pippen, a top 50 player, he had Rodman, one of the best defensive players of all time who was a lot like Charles Oakley, another talent Jordan had the honor of playing with.

Jordan played with exceptional talent and was coached by some of the best. So it is not fair to make it sound like he was playing with a bunch of scrubs and carried them. He had some of the greatest players to step on the court on his side, some of the greatest coaches on the bench and role players who did their jobs. So yeah, he should thank Krause for assembling the teams he played with.
