just to clarify, the basket did have safety pins n stuff.... we had more than enuff water bottles for the entire weekend... juice bottles for breakfast.... meals from friday night to saturday night.

the only negative part in here i wud see is committe being liable for underage caught.. other than that ppl who dont drink will not drink...ppl who do drink they will, regardless of their age.. they will find a way to drink.

i think we need to relax with pointing fingers at every possible thing... lets get real..nobody does bhangra to promote culture n blah blah... u do bhangra cuz u enjoy it... plain n simple.

if u hv problem wid dis.. u shud basically stop after parties at comps cuz it promotes drinking in a way...thas where teams look forward to gettin drunk... but then ppl who dont wna drink will not drink .... same thign for givin out a bottle... jus my 2 cents.

i think to say that "NO ONE" does bhangra any more to spread culture is an overstatement...

I can name 3 ppl easily on my team...myself, sumeet, nikhil, we drink here and there, but our goal last year, this year, and next year has and will always be to try our best to promote bhangra amongst our university and our fellow teammates (some who have never done bhangra before) -

and speaking as the captain of my team, i can say that i am damn proud of those 2 b/c not only have they probably gotten better than me in bhangra, but they have learned alott and are still learning alot - they encourage their teammates every day to do bhangra for love, not solely for partying. of course everyone loves to party and drink...well not everyone but alot of ppl do...but they do remind them that we're competing for one of the most beautiful cultures in the world and that should never be forgotten

Harjot is 100% right. Day by day we are losing the true essence of bhangra. Wish there was a competition that had no after-parties or alcohol at all throughout the weekend, then we should see how many teams end up going there...sad how some people need alcohol to have fun. Me personally am naturally high just seeing great performances and the overall bhangra atmosphere put you in a great mood..

true, for sure but I think it goes person to person... I can operate completely normal in terms of driving/operating machinery when im ripped but some people arent used to the high and some people jsut get completely trashed off a spliff which is normal, so yeah its possible to hurt yourself high... but usually when your baked your too relaxed/high to move so you jsut end up not doing anything thus reducing the risk of personal destruction haha... it works out!
