Getting Sheesham Dhol in Brampton? :S

in canada...300-450 or like I said find someone who has a really nice drum but they have given up on dhol and see if you can get a good price for it

lol never buy a complete drum from them... and remo will fit, but honestly no point of putting it on an amb its gonna sound low and dead

low and dead if i put on any ambassador(clear, white, ebony, suede, fyberskyn, etc.) and remo tattoo skyn, remo clear diplomat should sound like gbc, big time

you can try but honestly even the diplomat ones have a heavy sound

so i found the advertisement that it is a kachi pakki taali bhangra dhol, i'm not sure how much it costs, and i'm not sure if i can buy it or not, it's a desi style with nuts and bolts on dagga side and roped on tilli side,

Sell your dhol for a solid 200-250.... AFTER you fix it up. GBC heads are good, your dhol isn't tuned right. If you sand the paint off and oil it correctly it will sound beautiful. And Sheesham dhols run around 300+ depending on how nice it is.

Thats really weird, and indian style heads are much sharper then any remo... its just cause they're thinner 7mm vs 10/12mm heads. Did you ever end up finding a drum? that brampton dhol looked nice, and the dagas were nice as hell, just needed to put your own grip on em

Damn son, that was harsh lol but yeah from your videos, your head isn't that high pitched. That can and should be tuned much higher. Also it doesn't help that you have your dhol painted. When a dhol is painted the sound is muffled. I have yet to find a dhol that has paint on it that sounds crisp and just flat out right.

I got a chitti that`s painted black...sounds sick. pretty much almost a straight barrel 12x12x23.5 but its just as loud as big belly 13x13x26 inch drums, theres a vid on youtube but dad has his finger on the mic so it sounds kind of muffled lol

I do have seen my vids and like i said: i tuned it to really high pitch and i'm not lying, i'm telling the truth to be honest, i just don't know what happened to my dhol, maybe it's the paint? i'm not sure

(@Dholi harsh) amb dhols just got fucked up the sound with paint, big time, probably any type of sheesham like raw and/or ripe is the best way to go(i recommended *kaali taali* though)

(@monisingh) you're pretty lucky that your bhangra dhols sounded sick (raw and/or ripe sheesham wood)

im actually sanding it down over the next week or so lol...black paint is chipping now, gonna clear varnish it because of humidity in my house...its also painted gold...on the inside

Coolio so for exterior(outside or outer) how do i sand it down? after that, how do i apply mustard oil and how many coatings? and for the inside, how do i apply masala? which ingredients? how many coatings?

you got an amb dhol...don`t bother, save up and buy yourself a real nice taali dhol...masala don`t bother, tried it and meh a waste in my opinion and it just stinks

I'd sand it down wether its amb or even plywood, you can make any drum sound nice if you put the work into it. You take apart the entire dhol till its just the wood and you hit it with a heavy grit sand paper till all the paint/varnish is off, then work your way to a finer grit sand paper and keep going grit after grit till you reach a grit where it makes the dhol feel as smooth as possible, then hit it with 5 - 6 coats of mustard oil (coat every 2 hours) or until its completely dry. I wouldn't bother with masala. I never see the use of it, the sound difference is really minuscule.
