LOL I used to do this all the time in high school. You'd start off by listening to your teacher's lecture. Once your remembered a story or could think of a question related to the topic he or she is talking about raise your hands. Ask or tell away, One story goes to the next. However, I don't encourage you doing so because it always ends up with the whole class being behind or missing a lot of information that should of been covered in class!

This is how it went in my class:
Teacher: 1947 was the partition of India and Pakistan
Someone from my class: (Starts off with talking about a movie they saw about the split of India and Pakistan, and then merges into a whole new discussion - and the whole class is awake)

....or, you could just not be a dick and not annoy them. I look back to high school and middle school, and feel bad for teachers that were continually annoyed or picked on for no apparent reason.
