I've had the Blackjack, BB Pearl, an LG Xenon, and now I have a BB Curve 8520. Two of my close friends have iphones. And while I love the apps, and it's a very intriguing phone, I can't live without my Blackberry.

There's things about my Blackberry that I absolutely cannot live without. I can go two or three days without charging my Curve. Also the Blackberries do this thing (I don't know if the iphone does this) where if you send a message/email but you don't have service, it'll automatically send the message(s) once you do. So if I hop on the subway (where nobody gets service), send an email as I'm on the train, and then don't get off the train for another 20 minutes, it'll send the messages as soon as I get out of the subway. I don't even have to look at it-I just know it's sent.

Also, 2 of the 4 phones that I've had within the past few years had 3G. And while both of my Blackberries didn't-they were still pretty fast. There isn't that much of a difference for me to notice. In fact, the EDGE on my curve is faster then the 3G on my Xenon. And even if you need 3G THAT BADLY, the Bolds (both old and new) come with it.

Depending on what service you're using, I'd say go for the Bold (AT&T/T-Mobile), Curve (AT&T/T-Mobile/Sprint), or the Tour (Sprint/Verizon). I'm not so sure how the new Storm's doing (Verizon), and the Sharetype on the Pearl/Pearl-flip (Verizon/T-Mobile) could be a nightmare.

Last note, 218035DD Hit me up people!!

the blackberry and push email work out so much better for me between my personal use and work use that it made my iphone just a touch screen ipod worth 600 dollars.
I have push email on my iPhone using apple's MobileMe service. Google Gmail has also started supporting push email for the iPhone... I now get notified within seconds of a new message, so BB doesn't really contend much to apple on that front...

Your phone is now a touch screen ipod worth $600? Well, cancell service on your BB and let's see what that can do, it'll be a useless heavy paperweight... At least your iPhone will still function over wifi...
i had mobileme on my iphone. i sure as hell loved the idea of having my contacts stored on a mobile cloud but never used anything else from it. as far as the other comment you made about push email, sure gmail has it, but my work email does not automatically push my email to my phone. on my blackberry however, i get it instantly which is great because a lot of my emails are urgent.

as far as my blackberry being useless is completely irrelevant. im never going to take the data plan off because i live on it. theres no reason to have a blackberry or iphone if you arent gonna have the data plan plain and simple. anyone who tries to prove me otherwise is using their phone as a fashion statement or because its cool...and not using the phone for what it actually functions for.

but regardless, im sticking to blackberry because it works best for me. i work in the cell phone industry so theres really nothing you can say that i dont know already that can prove me otherwise. (not trying to be cocky, sorry if im coming out in that tone)

as i said before, ive had every single iphone and quite honestly, after a few months of having it...it simply got boring. it started feeling too big, touch screen was getting too annoying, and it became a huge distraction. everything i need a phone for the blackberry does better. im not knocking the iphone, but i just think FOR ME the blackberry is a better option. everyone has their own opinion and each phone sets in differently with each person.

I respect your opinion... One thing is clear in this thread, everyone has their own views/needs/opinions about which phone is the best...

I just want to clarify though, push email is push email... Any provider that has this service uses the same protocols, so there is no way your company email could have push email on your BB and not the iPhone... Now if it was an Exchange server then yes, that will give BB push... However, with OS 3.0 Apple now supports Microsoft exchange servers as well; they performe in most part just the same as mobile me does...

For me, I just don't see the same scalability on BB devices as you have with the iPhone... Sure you get an actual qwerty keyboard and I can understand how some users prefer this over touch screen, but I personally just can't stand the way BB navigates, the UI...

Again, just my opinion... At the end of the day, the best advice is to use the device yourself and decide what is best... All cell phone providers off "cooling off periods" for their services... You can use the service for a few days with no financial obligation other than your usage...

What I meant was, in your argument you stated your iPhone is now a ipod worth 600 dollars... First of all, I hope you didn't pay that much... I disagree that it would be pointless to have an iPhone without a data plan... Preferred? Yes... Required? No... The iPhone will still do a lot even with no cell service, especially when paired with wifi data... Most places you go nowadays you'll get wifi service, and here in the US if you have ATT @ home as your internet provider, you'll get free access to ATT's huge network of wifi devices across the country... Still, though, your BB would be of less use as well just as your iPhone is with no service... That's what I was trying to say... That's not a con on the iPhone, just the fact that you have no service on it...

How much did you guys pay for your iphones? I bought an iphone 3g last year as an upgrade from rogers for $200 and have spent an extra $70 so far to replace the cracked screen and a broken headphone jack so all in all having spent $270 on it so far is not too bad. I'm not on a data plan as there is wifi EVERYWHERE these days but my phone bill comes out to about $45 a month. What about you guys?

if you get an iphone legit... its 99$ for the 3g... 199$ for the 16gb 3gsand 299$ for the 32gb 3gs. the cheapest monthly plan is 69.99 and that doesnt even have text. the cheapest monthly plan with text after taxes will run you over 100$ a month. that's with AT&T.

I have the iPhone family share plan consisting of 1400 anytime mins, rollover etc etc, 3G data, and text messaging... I also have 2 additional lines under the family shere plan... My fixed bill is roughly $115 per month provided I don't get hit with any overages...

Palm Pre.

The synergy with Facebook is undeniably awesome. I have all my facebook contacts in my phone, with telephone (if listed), with other contact information, with PROFILE pictures (if they call, I see their facebook profile picture) and birthdays. In addition, the WebOs contacts application is smart enough to link multiple profiles with the same name together (if you had a contact under Gmail named "Kinnell", a Facebook friend for Kinnell and a cellphone number, they would combine it under one entire profile).

I also get a calendar event notification everyday for the names of people who have birthdays that day (which is primarily based from my Facebook). The Pre has still a long way to go in terms of apps, but there are so many benefits that the Palm Pre has over that both the Iphone and Blackberry that it definitely is a great competitor (and it's still relatively new at being like 6 months old).

pan di :O :|. Holy crap those plans are so expensive. Although I am obsessed with my Iphone, I don't think I would be willing to shell out $100 a month for one. AT&T's price plans are ridiculous...

Bastards - lol

LOVE my iphone!! BBM is just like texting so I don't understand what the big deal is. Yes, I know you don't have to exchange numbers that way, BUT if you don't want the other person to have you number then you probably shouldn't be talking to them anyways!!!

Question: I have the IM app on my phone which is like the BBM thing but I don't know how to use it....anybody know what the deal is with that thing?

BLACKBERRY all the way!! I've gotten so used to the keyboard, never had an Iphone thought about it getting it but it might be too much of a distraction (like I need more of those). think the BB is way better but depends on you, if your an apps person then the iphone is more for you, if your someone who likes to txt nd use messaging then go for the BB

Has anyone heard about the n97? How does that phone compare to the iPhone and BB?
I've heard about the n95 and n97 they're often touted as able to do all the things iphone couldnt/cant do (copy/paste, mms, multitask etc). From my impression, iphone is a more mainstream 'plug-and-play' phone for the masses while n97 is more complex. ive never used an n97, what network is it on? given this though i would definitely try it out before dropping the $$$ on it.

You know, for a hot second I forgot who this topic was stared by and for.

Victor, for you-as a 15 year old male living in New York-it'd be pretty dumb to buy either. The Blackberry is meant for people on the go who barely have time to look at their phone. And the iPhone for a 15 year old is an accident waiting to happen.

I say something that has a lot of games, that's durable, and that won't break in all of 3.4 seconds. Nokia? Not the N97 because I heard it was very fragile. But the N95 is hot

Also, I thank the Lord every day of my life that Blackberry has copy/paste. No matter what I'm doing I can copy paste anything to any other app/function/message. I live by it.
