...or at least that's what the YouTube user who posted the vid claims.

Jhoomer Bhangra performed by a group of girls taught by Davinder Singh Nagi. Don't be fooled by their skill nor their clothing, these are real girls.
What do you all think?

The guy screaming is NUTS.

They look like they could be girls to me...especially the girl in the orange her demeanor was more feminine.

I think it's odd that they are wearing paghs though....

Alot of girls wear paghs on a daily basis....
Sorry, to clarify I meant in the traditional male 'bhangra' style pagh not in the religious sense.

So...? It's a different video, and I don't think the subject of this thread was about girls wearing paghs...it was just a comment.

A little pre-emptive maybe?

no I agree its a sidenote (and the girls with paghs is also a side conversation there), but it's an interesting topic so if anyone was interested I posted the link.

Also with July 4th still on my brain, pre-emptive thread linking just seemed like the American thing to do.

Kinda like reverse hijras...

lol j/k

I think it's cool what they're doing. It doesn't have to make sense sexually, culturally, or societaly. It can just be appreciated as an art form.

i dont see anything wrong with it...they were having fun...if guys dressed as girls and did giddah people would smile and laugh.

another side note conversation (not directed at anyone directly): why do people think that "traditional punjabi culture" is something that is backward and can only be done a certain way? punjabi culture is and always has been up to date with the times (albeit sometimes it does lag, while it is also sometimes more progressive). punjabis are "traditionally" a fun-loving people who love art in many forms, including dance. bhangra is an art form, as is giddah, as is chummer. men do it, so do women. as long as it's done with good intentions, i don't get the problem. they wouldn't win a competition because their form isn't as good as most guys' teams, but if anything i give 'em props.
