Fudge it I know btf gonna rip me a new one for this, but Fudge it. This is the sadest excuse for a bhangra attempt ever :| Dholi was holding his dugga wrong lol. Like i cant even rip this because it would get too long and boring of a post. People really need to learn that these guys arent a bhangra team. Like the do chal(jugni, tunka, luddi) about 28 times in the video, Thari jhummar was turned in to a massacre of 16 step moves. After the video was done i poked out my eyes

I know ppl are gonna be like yo their legends and insperation to us all. But i still think they suck :)
Yo you need to calm down on the haterade. I remember a post back where you said you were a fourth generation Bhangra dancer? 'bhangra' as you imagine it didn't exist until our parents generation. What our great grandparents were dancing looked absolutely nothing like any of north Americas current sets. A pre 1960s Bhangra literally only exists in peoples heads. I don't know when half of the traditonalists on this forum will come to grips with it. Want to see traditional Punjabi folk dance that hasn't been altered? Go to a shrine in Pakistan during a festival. You'll notice few paggan, few jatts, few katos, few chimte, no women, etc.

+1. I love live bhangra, I prefer Heeray over Empire, I prefer VCU over APD...but that is just because I think the style of dancing they do is harder and is more appealing visually. Their isn't some extreme desire to mimmick what bhangra used to be because bhangra looked nothing like this back in the day. Hell, bhangra is just one folk dance and folk routines now include 5+ folk dances.

Also, you have no sense of context Jungly Jatt. For the time period they danced in, that was what everyone in America did. Their was no youtube to learn from, their was no BTF to gain resources, their were few ways to get "traditional outfits", props or training from Ustads. For bhangra to come to where it is today in America it had to start somewhere...and KJ were the innovators who brought a lot of entertainment, excitement and inspiration to a lot of the dancers you see now.

You guys from Vancouver and Toronto are spoiled with Ustads on every corner to teach you dhol, singing and dancing...for the rest of us in places with smaller Punjabi communities or developing communities we had to learn on our own and find our way. So cut the hate.
