Ranjit, a long time member and I think captain of NJ, was a judge at the competition and never mentioned any similarities between us and NJ. Not trying to dismiss your critique, but he was very honest and open as a judge so I think he would have told us straight up if there were similarities.Jungly_Jatt said:ummm this was a huge improvement from before. you guys have potential but need to develop your own identity. To me it seemed liek i was watching a Sgpd Nj set. :S i dont know but good job non the less

But everyone has their opinions I guess.
regardless of ranjit not bringing it up in judging feedback, there are def. some similarities, but I'm confident KGPD's original elements (which there are a lot of as well) will keep growing to comprise more and more of the routine and replace any of the similar elements to nj/sgpd...Jungly_Jatt said:Nikhil B. said:another view, can see all the dancers in this one.

haha gurbir, sumeet is the official head kicker of nc...i just spin chimteGurbir23 said:I loved the set! The set was amazing, and you could have placed easily with it but it was executed quite poorly. It was extremely messy at points and it seemed like every person on the stage decided they wanted to do their own thing. A prime example is the skinnier/shorter blue guy. He was really energetic throughout the whole performance, but he was doing so much extra that it just took away from the synchronization. Get all your dancers on the same level, standardize how you want each one of the moves done. Also, the execution was lacking from some of the dancers, make sure everyone has got the moves down. Lastly..................SMILE!
P.S: Im so glad you guys brought back the ruff ryders/jump around/boliyan mix, its my favourite remix ever....and im glad that this time lavesh isnt trying to kick himself in the head lol
I do understand what you are saying, but have you ever watched any live videos from India? I am just asking because I have seen plenty of india teams do shoulder shakes during jhummar and put their khundey in their mouth. second off, i have never seen shan-e-punjab coed, so idk what idea your saying i jacked from them. northwestern did daang throws before sgpd did, hell my moms aunties only bhangra performance threw khundey to each other back in 2002. and i havent seen many new performances these days without an instance of dancers holding each others hands in one way or another, etc. also, the beginning saaps formation isnt really like furteelays unless im missing seeing some vid of theirs...many teams do one jodi at a time start offs, and we did more of a pick up effect, whereas furteelay starts going forward at different times.Sue Sylvester said:Creativity, in my opinion, is what makes you stand out from other teams. It's an attempt to differentiate you from the rest of the competition and make the viewer say "Hey, that was new!". I'm not sure what creativity the rest of BTF is seeing in this, but I saw very little.
In terms of the overall performance, your execution has improved tremendously. I do believe that the short kid in the blue needs to tone it down and blend in with the rest of the team, not vice versa. I liked your Idols vardiyan much better than these, but these are hott too. The chaadres need to be tied better and you need to think of the vardiyan when choreographing. (For example, doing barrel rolls in the way you did them will definitely be flashing the audience. No matter how cool the idea is, keep in mind the limitations of the vardiyan). The paghs, on the other hand, are well-tied.
The general choreography was pretty entertaining. I think the only real thing, in my mind, holding your team back in terms of choreo is the derivative-ness of your attempts at wow-factors. There's a difference between things that are 1) TRENDING (ie: the "drop-a-prop,step,pick-up-the-prop", "open-saap-sword-slice") and things that are 2) DERIVATIVE (ie: things already done in a very similar fashion, or almost exact as another team). Your team's routines have a theme of doing the latter.
For example:
- The beginning of saaps? Furteelay Shokeen
- Daang Throws? SGPD
- Going through the middle with sword slices? Shan-E-Punjab Co-ed
- Daang-In-Mouth During Squats? Virsa: Our Tradition
- Shoulder Shaking in Jhoomer? SGPD
- Going through Box & Dropping? PCBCA
- Jugni Formation? SGPD
- Hand Grab & Toss? NYPD
- Ending Slices after Box? Really reminiscent of NJ Amplifier
Occasionally, teams may have 1 or 2 wow-factors that are eerily similar to other teams in the same season. But when almost every segment has at least one, I don't think it's possible to chalk to up to mere coincidence. You can look at this as a call-out... or you can look at this as motivation to start doing more and more of your own "thang" and step away from whatever process your team employed to come up with these past few routines. In my opinion, the derivativeness does very little for your team, other than a cheap audience cheer. It's an opportunity completely lost to really show some flower-power creativity, some unique KPGD flavour and a start to brand your own moves. People should be saying "Damn, KPGD did that crazy dandelion formation" as oppose to "KPGD brought back Virsa's daang-in-mouth" or "That reminds me of NJ's amplifier!".
That would be so sick! Jus sayin'Sue Sylvester said:"Damn, KPGD did that crazy dandelion formation"
+1sumeetj said:i would also like to point out that their are MANY teams who use VERY similar ideas to other teams, and dont get called out on it simply bc they have so many people ready to suck them off when their vids are posted. there def is a double standard, and its dumb that having a few supporters who post "shout out to my boy on this team yall ripped it my man in the whatever color is sickkkk" and then everyone after that is like "wow that guy in that color really is sick! and this team is amazing! it must be pure coincidence that they have some of the same ideas sgpd/nj does!"
