Personal Opinion: I honestly believe that this mother needs to take FULL CONTROL of her son. She needs to grow a backbone and realize that she is the boss. Personally, I've never talked back to my mother due to the fact that I've been taught better. If kids these days get hit, they can call 9-1-1 and say that they parents hit them and nothing good comes out of that. My parents, being Punjabi and came from a strict family, they brought that into their family and made us show respect. Respect is a BIG THING. If you don't show respect, it shows the kind of person you are. Respecting your elders is a big one. Kids don't show any repsect anymore.

Sorry for the "Rant." Seeing this got me so enraged.

Don't "Abuse" your kids, but you have all right to beat them. I believe that the mother has all right to smack her son and daughter, but the father only has the right to smack his son. I've been smacked by both.

I personally believe that "never hit a girl" stuff is bullshit. In the case of my kids, they are my kids, doesnt matter if its my son or daughter, if they did something that deserved a smacking, either one of them would get smacked. Same thing that goes with girls our age, if a girl comes up to me and starts punching me or slapping me, i will smack the shit out of her. Obviously i would never engage it, but if she wants equal rights, i will give her her equal rights.

I personally believe that if a child needs to be punished (whether it is physical or nonphysical), they should be disciplined. What gets on my nerves is when parents get pushed around by there own children. You go to the toy store and you see a child crying his lungs out on the floor for a toy. I mean seriously, YOU ARE THE PARENT, and you're just going to let your child walk over you like that. SERIOUSLY? But, then again there has been cases where a child just gets smacked once and then the child goes running to their guidance counselor. What does the guidance counselor do instead of seeing what faults may lie within the child they immediately make the issue into a social service case. Which has been done down here. I just think parents should draw a line between excessively beating the child and just 'disciplining' like smacking them on the face or on it's behind.

However, I don't think there is a problem of a dad hitting their daughter (b/c then the daughter may use that as a threat). If I knew my dad wasn't going to hit me and my mom's not home. I'd do whatever the hell I wanted to with that mentality (oh i'll get juttiyan later.. but oh yeah my mom's probably going to forget by the time she's back). You know!

Um homegirls daughter died. Kids obviously got issues (he's also articulate as hell) but she probaby needs a ton of work herself. I've known kids who have grown up in households with parents who have psychiatric issues...not all parents deserve the same autonomy when raising kids, either.
Remember that one girl you know who ran away from home/married a white dude and the parents cut her out of their lives? Likely the family took "strictness" too far.

Hitting a boy is different than hitting a girl. A girl’s psyche is simply not the same as a boy’s, and their experiences and socialization are dramatically different also.
A girl who is hit as a child normalizes men hitting her and that could lead to very serious and devastating issues as a young person and adult. A boy who is hit usually does not deal with abuse from other men as an adult or take it to be a normal occurrence he needs accept. Girls are already socialized to believe a man is the one in control/in power, hitting a young girl only serves to solidify that mindset.
Also, the idea that equal rights means you should hit a girl is absurd. Instead of hitting a girl if you are hit, how about walking away from the situation? It doesn’t excuse a girl from hitting you; it just shows you are able to handle the situation in a mature fashion.
