I didn't mean the coalition of 3 superstars. I meant a team that is built to compliment a few key players. The rest were fillers at first, until they built a reputation and got more people... Anyways not the point.
I was partly being purposefully pedantic when I posted that, bhai. I got your general point. But I’ve noticed several posters using the dynasty era Bulls as an apt point of reference for how today’s Heat team could be built which I do not think is entirely accurate. For one, the Bulls teams of the late 80s up until the end of the first three peat was much more organically constructed. Apart from Cartwright, Chicago’s key complementary pieces were either drafted or groomed (I have Paxson in mind here) by the team. The implication is that there was continuity; they grew together. Yes, there was a focal point to build around but because the process was gradual, these players grew into their roles as opposed to being forced into them. Familiarity with this model also eased the implementation of the “plug-in” strategy utilized in the reconstruction of the team after Jordan’s first retirement. Essentially, Miami is a team starting from scratch. I’m more optimistic than COMTON that they will be able to find their supporting cast*. It just won’t be in the manner the Bulls did.
*Though I do agree that the looming lockout may have an impact on how quickly it is assembled.

With a possibility of J.J. Reddick as well, the bulls are gonna be derrty.
Yep, this is 100% Rose's team now. Has his post player, has his shooter(s?). Round out the bench with a defensive 2, another ballhandler and a backup scoring power forward and see how far the kid can take the team.

I love love love well informed, educated arguments. THANK YOU for making this fun

. I've always loved the bulls, despite the fact that between the bulls and the knicks, the miami heat never saw the championship through the 90's. You're right, the bulls put alot of effort into development of alot of players. In addition, the build revolved highly around pickingup players that FIT INTO a system, rather than revamping it. Thats why for 10 years the team was so lethal.
Rose has already shown me he has what it takes to be a boss in this league. Personally, I'd like to see him try to further develop his play making skills as a passer rather than fully push into the dimension of a 2 guard who just happens to run the 1. I think it will just make him that much more dangerous. With the addition of Korver and Boozer (who thankfully REALIZED how beautiful this team was sitting, which lebron did not seem to give its full worth, to be honest), you guys are honestly my current favorite for jumping to the top of the East, even more so than miami. I only say current, however because I have to see the acquisitions that are made by miami, which I believe will be intelligent and sound. In Riley We Trust...
