Phelps has a crazy lifestyle too, training for over 6 hours per day. He has to eat around 10,000 calories a day and for his typical breakfast, he often eats two egg-and-cheese sandwiches, a bowl of grits, a large omelet and a tall stack of chocolate chip pancakes.
Food for fuel: Olympian Phelps' unusual diet

"As US swimming sensation Michael Phelps sets his sights on more gold medal wins at the Beijing Olympics this weekend, the BBC's Michael Hirst examines the part an extraordinary diet has played in the sportsman's remarkable success."

Hans, your second statement was useless, be a man and speak your mind, dont hide with your tail between your legs...
"Be a man." Really? Well if you're gonna question my manliness I guess I have to respond, I can't think of anything more important than that. Not rationality, measuredness, deliberation, humility. None of that. I actually think my earlier statement was quite useful in highlighting how ridiculous your claims were, but that's a matter of opinion I guess. But just to make you happy (and since I've got nothing better to do)...

Jordan needs 4 othe guys... Golf is not a sport... Roger Federer is good, but he's not the Bonds of Tennis, more like Albert Pujols...
Wow, well I'll let Meistro handle the Jordan part since he clearly knows more about that than I do.

"Golf is not a sport," I can't really argue with since you provide absolutely no reasons for thinking this, but I can ask you a relevant question that might get to the root of this. Do you think Shooting or Archery are sports? Because the International Olympic Committee does, and I don't think shooting a gun requires much more exertion than swinging a golf club (probably much less, actually). But then again, I don't know why you don't think golf is a sport...

Roger Federer - I don't care about baseball at all, and I won't pretend to know it, but the simple fact that you would compare Federer, a household name and probably one of the most dominant athletes in any sport in any era, to Pujols, a baseball player I've only ever heard of in passing (again, I'm not a baseball fan), is kind of ridiculous. Let me direct you to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Records_held_by_Roger_Federer. I know, it's a long list, so let me give you a taste:

Federer is the only male tennis player to have won eight Grand Slam singles titles in three years (2005-07) and twelve in five years (2003-07). Roy Emerson won 12 Grand Slam singles titles in 7 years (1961-67), and Sampras won 12 of those titles in 10 years (1990-99).
Does Pujols have an entire Wikipedia entry devoted only to his records? Nope. Neither does Bonds, actually, and here's how small his list is in comparison http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barry_Bonds#Records_held. All this, and Federer was never suspected of drug/steroid use, either.

Also, just to make things clear, I don't know you and I don't have any problem with you personally. I actually think a lot of your posts are hilarious (intentionally or not), and I'm glad you're around here for that reason, but I just can't disagree with you more on so many things.

that had to be one of the most retarded things you've said in your ENTIRE life. WOWWWWWWWWWWWW. Bonds was a bigger force? Lemme ask you mr. vick. Did bonds have 23 pairs of shoes from the time he was drafted til now? Does he have his own brand of shoes? WAIT, wait, wait, IS HE EVEN ENDORSING ANY BRANDS? Yeah, thats right, because he's a roid monkey and he always will be. Bonds was a bigger force? I think not. Jordan not only made his teammates better, but he made EVERYBODY in the NBA step their games up, cuz they knew #23 was gonna be in town. Guys had to becme EXTRA physical with jordan because they didnt have the skill to actually defend him or be defended. Now that we look in retrospect, what kind of a force was bonds really? He has lost all credibility. How many would he have hit if he didnt CHEAT his way to the record he set. Yeah I kno you're gonna give me the whole "oh, but he has such great hand-eye coordination". But even so. Theres tons of guys in in the MLB with great hand-eye coordination. That argument is invalid. Just like Mark McGwire sitting the single season home run record. He was a roid monkey just like bonds. He lost ALL credibility. Where is he now? Nowhere, and thats exactly where bonds is going!!!!!..............however, on a lighter note....................GO CANUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bonds was walked intentionally with the BASES LOADED... That is the equivalent of Jordan being gaurded by 5 men, which never happened... Thank you come again... Walking a man intentionally with the base loaded is the highest respect you can give in athlete in any damn sport... Bonds didnt care about his marketability, he didnt give a rats fart about the media... Jordan loved the media, he used it to create his empire... You dont compare to players based on how many shoes one guy has... Bonds never cared... Bonds was walked like 200 times in one season and still put up MVP numbers, that's the equivalent of Jordan playing 20 mins a night and average 35 points, once again, that never happened... Bonds saw 1 pitch to hit the entire night, and guess what he did with that one pitch, it landed 400 feet away in Mccovey cove... What Bonds was able to do with so many fewer chances blows Jordan out of the water... It's a lot harder to hit a ball 400 feet consistently than it is to hit 3 pointers and 20 ft fade away shots consistently... If Baseball was as big globally as Basketball is and Bonds' actually cared about his image and embraced the media, he would be right there with Jordan in terms of popularity... You are right though, 20 years from now Jordan will still be a global icon... Teams had to sign pitchers just so they could get Bonds out ONCE in a WHOLE game... I'm talking about relief pitchers here... He won more MVP's than Jordan and stayed loyal to the fans in San Francisco, something you can't say about Jordan and Chicago... Jordan was the best baller in the world, but Bonds' impact on opposing teams was far greater...

Hans, I dont consider Golf a sport... I dont really care much if the Olympic committee does... They also probably think Tiger Woods is an athlete... Would you agree with that? The Olympic committee also calls the smog in Beijing "mist" and actually believes the fact that those 8 year old chinese girls are actually 16... The IOC has a lot wrong with it, don't always believe what they have to say...

Ok so maybe I shouldn't have compared Federer to Pujols, he's better than Pujols...

I really am trying to distance myself from the bhangra world, but I heard there was a really ridiculous conversation being held here...

Dude, did you really just say that Tiger Woods is not an athlete? Tiger Woods bench presses over 320 pounds. He could bench you, your mother, and her disgusting two-course South Indian meal, all at once, and still shoot 61 that afternoon easy. He's an effing athlete, a role model, and an American. Don't touch Tiger.

So Vick, you called me out, questioned my manliness (which I'm still upset about), and called me a cowardly dog with my tail between my legs, and this is the response I get? You STILL haven't told me why you don't consider golf a sport, so I guess I can't argue with you there. Your logic about the IOC is way off target (pun intended). Archery has been a part of the Olympics since the ancient Greeks, and shooting has been in the Olympics since 1932 (says Wikipedia), and that's a whole lot of Olympic Committees to just "get something wrong." Also, I'm always going to take their word about what is or is not a sport over yours. It is their job, after all.

Also, you're absolutely right. You shouldn't have compared Federer to Pujols. That's as crazy as comparing Bonds to Jordan or Tiger. He's way outclassed. Why don't you try comparing Federer to Bonds? I think you'll find it's still not that easy...

And screw those Chinese gymnasts and their missing baby teeth. (Are we allowed to curse on here? I restrained myself...)

In that case, fuck the Chinese gymnasts and their missing baby teeth.

It's OK if I swear at the Chinese gymnasts, right?

Edit: I just realized I've communicated with Sulmoney through 3 different websites in the past 3 minutes: GMail, Twitter, and BTF.

Oh boy...............Bonds being walked with the bases loaded IS NOT the equivalent to Jordan being guarded by 5 guys. How can you even compare the two? Yeah guys getting out of the way because they cant contest a dunk by Jordan is hella respect too, but you don't see me hollerin about that. See Vivak, you don't get it. By walking Bonds, the opposing team basically said, 'hey we give up, we'll let you walk". Thats not the concept of sports. The concept of professional sports is to be COMPETITIVE. What did Jordan do? When else did you see guys like John Starks, Reggie Miller, Joe Dumars, Jeff Hornacek, among others, step their games up as much as they did when facing Jordan? THAT is respect. THAT is what sports is all about. Not giving up just cuz some dude taking steroids is smacking a ball 400 ft. Find a way to get his ass out. That is why Eric Gagne got so much respect because he was competitive. he FACED barry bonds. Yeah sure he got pwned a few times. But he faced bonds.

how do you even call barry bonds an athelete? He had to take steroids to hit a ball 400 ft. BIG WHOOP! Dont tell me thats not why he took em. If its not why, then WHY did he take steroids? The guy freakin stood in the outfield for more than half of the game. Batted like 3 or 4 times a game. He didnt even homer EVERY SINGLE GAME. Jordan actually EXCELLED in offense and defense. He came to play EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. He didnt need steroids. For a guy his size, he shouldn't have been so dominant. You wanna compare MVP awards? yeah bonds won 7. Jordan won 5 mvp awards as well as 6 NBA finals MVP's. He carried his team to 6 NBA championships and 2 3-peats. How many world series did Barry Bonds win? Yeah, taking steroids to swat a ball 400 yrds doesnt seem so beneficial for your team anymore now does it? How did Jordan NOT stay loyal to the city of Chicago? He played there for 13 years! Its because of him that people even know WHAT and WHERE chicago is! ITs because of dick heads like Jerry Krause who didnt want Jordan back when he wanted to play again. Yeah, thats why he chose to go with the Wizards. You have to come at me harder than that dude. Bonds? What a joke.

Need I say more, I could type an essay on why golf is not a sport, but this guy made it easy for me...

http://www.la2day.com/nightlife/golf_not_a_sport_never_will_be

Golf maybe tough, but you don't need to be an athlete to play it... Any 95 year old guy who can walk and lift a 2 pound metal twig can play it...

Tigers a great athlete, the guy lifts 350lbs and has a caddie carry his shit... I guess I can re-phrase what I meant to say earlier, Tiger is not an athlete because he plays golf, he's an athlete because of his off the golf course training... Playing golf has nothing to do with him actually being called an athlete... John Daly is a fat lump of lard, dont even begin to call that loser an athlete...

Meistro, people jump out of the way of dunk from everyone, not just Jordan... I'm done with this arguement, Jordan was nothing without his 4 other buddies.. Bonds was a one man wrecking crew... End of story...

Has it ever occurred to you that Tiger is so good at golf because he's not just a "95 year old guy who can walk and lift a 2 pound metal twig"? The reason he can bench 350 lbs is because he thinks it improves his game to be in top physical condition, and if that is true, doesn't that make golf a sport by your definition? And that's true for any sport. I mean, anybody can pick up a basketball and try to throw it in a hoop, but you won't be as good as Jordan unless you train and get fit.

So far, we've got opinions on what is a sport:

Tiger Woods: The most dominant golfer to every play the game
International Olympic Committee: Organizers of every Olympic Games for over 100 years
Vick: BTF junkie

One of these things is not like the other things...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZIvgQ9ik48

Oh and that article you cited was a joke. NASCAR drivers are better athletes than golfers because they don't wear dockers? I'm convinced.

To beat Jordan, you probably have to be just as good as or in better physical shape than him... To beat Tiger, you can be 400 pounds with 90% fat and still beat him... You have to look at the majority of people in the "sport", golf is generally designed for old, white retired folks who hit a ball and then jump in their golf carts... The game requires basically zero endurance.. Like the article said, it's more along the lines of running errands when it comes to how much physical effort you have to put forth... Even with tiger's training, his knee is all screwed up playing GOLF... I mean damn, all you have to do is stand straight and hit the damn ball... Now I know exactly why his knee is messed up, because I've played a little golf here and there, but this guy is supposedly an "athlete"... Golf does put a little strain on your knees, but for people like Tiger it should be a non-issue, I guess he isn't what everyone makes him out to be...

at least he doesnt need to take steroids to be successful. You have like no argument. Bonds took roids just cuz he needed to do BASICALLY the exact same thing Tiger does, to get where he is. Tiger drives a ball 400 yrds. Bonds hits a ball 400ft. Bonds stood in the outfield. The ball was MAYBE hit to him once or twice in a game? He didnt do any running. The only physical activity his position required was to JOG from the dugout to the outfield and back. If he was such a "force" in baseball, he would have made his teammates better. The giants SUCKED while he was with them.
