He is absolutely ridiculous...he just won his 5th medal...of 8 that are projected...and all of them have been world records...this is just crazy...I'm not sure how else to describe...you talk about a dominant athlete...he can honestly say he is the best swimmer in the world...

(and Vick...swimming is a sport)

easy sulman....you really think thats whats making the difference? doubtful....hes beating the opposition by quite a margin, and the other thing is as each different sport evolves so does the science behind it...I was watching a piece on nbc...where someone compared it to the racket John McEnroe played with vs the one Roger Federer plays with now...you can't use it as some sort of an excuse for the reason he is winnning gold medals...if you think China and Russia's team haven't been researching and developing suits to maximize speed and minimize resistance you are mistaken.

of course, im not goin at you sulman...i'm glad you brought it up...but thats the way I feel about it

haha no, it was a quick jab but there is no doubt, phelps is leaps and bounds beyond everyone else in swimming, he is the jordan of swimming...but in regards to the records, every heat is breaking a world record, its getting a bit ridiculous. check out this article, its a good read.

Sulman brother I agree with you here...the swimming cube or whatever it is in beijing is supposedly built for speed,...so theres no question that the high prevalence of the breaking of world records is probably a bit skewed, but as the article said, theres no way to comparee swimmers of past to swimmers of present...because not only are the training programs of the swimmers changing, but so is the environment...theres too many variables to compare...

The suits are available to everyone.. Phelps is in a league of his own.. That man straight owns everything... Second to Bonds in domination by a single athlete...

Jeeti I agree, he is an athlete... I had a pool, and man, after swimming for 10 mins I had no gas left in the tank... This guy is a machine... His daily diet has 10,000 Calories!

Jordan needs 4 othe guys... Golf is not a sport... Roger Federer is good, but he's not the Bonds of Tennis, more like Albert Pujols...

Phelps has a crazy lifestyle too, training for over 6 hours per day. He has to eat around 10,000 calories a day and for his typical breakfast, he often eats two egg-and-cheese sandwiches, a bowl of grits, a large omelet and a tall stack of chocolate chip pancakes.
