Even with tiger's training, his knee is all screwed up playing GOLF... I mean damn, all you have to do is stand straight and hit the damn ball... Now I know exactly why his knee is messed up, because I've played a little golf here and there, but this guy is supposedly an "athlete"... Golf does put a little strain on your knees, but for people like Tiger it should be a non-issue, I guess he isn't what everyone makes him out to be...
Really, all you have to do is stand straight and hit the ball? Okay, Vick, I've been playing the SPORT of golf for a long time, and I'm still getting better. If it were as simple as just standing straight (which you are not supposed to do) and hitting the ball, I think I would have been a pro on day one. I invite you to come play a round with me - I'll pay for it. For as long as I've been playing, I'm still just a little bit better than your average golfer. For example, today I shot 81 on par 71. On par 5's, I averaged 290 yards off the tee. For the first few years, I still had trouble just hitting it out of the tee box. You get better at sports with practice, not age. And if I were to take two weeks off from golf, my score would be at least 5 strokes worse.

Vick, your one-sided arguments are useless when you have no better rebuttal than, "Well you simply hit the damn ball and hop in the golf cart." You went to college, put something better together.

at least he doesnt need to take steroids to be successful. You have like no argument.
hahaha... sala... Bonds was doing pretty well without the roids... Basketball doesn't have a rampant roids problem because being a behemoth in basketball doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to become better... If Jordan packed on 20 more pounds of muscle, he would have gotten worse... In baseball, roids does help you out a little in terms of power which is needed because in baseball you dont need to be as agile like you do in bball... I'm not trying to justify roids here, but roids in bball is only useful when you get injured and you want to get back quickly, and in baseball it helps you hit the ball a little further... In baseball, roids help performance to a certain degree, in bball it wouldnt really help much... The only reason Bonds' is getting blasted for the roids is because he plays in San Francisco which isn't exactly a baseball hotbed, if he was in New York/Boston/Chicago, I gaurentee the feds wouldnt be on his ass... The white people in the Northeast are fueling this campaign against him... jealous bastards...

Buddy, read my words carefully... I said before that golf was a tough game... I suck at it... Couldn't hit that ball straight if my life depended on it... No doubt... But it's not physically demanding.. That's what I'm getting at here... You don't need to be an athlete to play it, nor do you become an athlete just because you play it...

the golf that you see on tv being played by the tigers and phils is a lot different than country club golf you are comparing it with vick. the country club golf where you have the carts and are riding about to hit the ball is perfect for your argument. however, real golf is when you walk the course. walking the course is very difficult, and is a workout for anyone who plays the game, even for the john daly's of the world. also, it seems you are basing your argument purely on someone's bmi or fat %. what about nfl linemen? are you calling them non-athletes too?

dude those lineman could probably outrun a lot of us once they get their motors going.. haha.. But come on man, if playing Golf is physically taxing, then there is just something wrong...

Where do I begin...

Okay, obviously you're not competitive at all since you have already given up on trying to hit a golf ball straight. You lack the key ingredient for an athlete, so you are in no position to judge who is or is not an athlete.

You claim that golf is not physically demanding. You're right, it's not physically demanding... unless you want to win. Let me break this down for you. The farther and more accurately you drive the ball out of the tee-box, the better you will score, and the more frequently you will win. So, you may ask, "How does one drive the ball longer and more accurately in physically and non-physically demanding ways?" Let's start with the physically demanding ways: 1. If you're right handed, you need to do power sets for your left tricep, to make your swing more powerful, because to pull the club down from your backswing, you need to be explosive with your straight left arm (left handed, vice versa) 2. You have to do exercises to keep your back strong and tight so it stays in the angled position while your shoulders shift angles. 3. Your calves push your weight onto the other side on your downswing to create the power that goes into your swing just before you hit the ball. Work those bad boys out. 4. Deltoids. Most important muscle in improving your game in golf. Period.

Non-physically demanding ways to improve: 1. maybe you are mis-hitting the ball and not getting the sweet spot on the club. Try standing farther away from the ball and lining it up more with your front foot... that's pretty much the only way you can improve your distance in a non-physically demanding way, but doing both in conjunction will make you a lot better.

I'm not going to respond to your claim that you do not need to be an athlete to play golf until I know what you think an athlete is, or what you think it takes to be an athlete. If you're an athlete of another sport, yeah, obviously you don't need to play golf, you're playing a different fucking sport. But if golf is your sport, you're an athlete, and colleges will pay to have you.

Sorry, I don't think I made my final point as clearly as I would have liked. What I meant to ask you, Vick, was what do you think it would take for a golfer to be considered an athlete? And don't respond that they'd have to change sports.

Amrik I apologize that your so ass hurt that I consider your "sport" not worthy enough of being considered a sport... I don't know what else to say... I don't consider Golf a sport and I don't consider golfers athletes... That's my opinion, you are entitled to your own... I'm not sure what kind of training golfers undergo(other than Woods), but it doesn't compare to any other "real sport"... Honestly bro, I dont consider myself an athlete by any stretch of the imagination and I could hit that damn ball about 200 feet and I dont know much about hitting a golf ball... I took a 2 month class in Golf, the game is hard, but it didn't test me physically...
