best thing to study with is NO MUSIC and DEAD SILENCE....when you study, you want to study in an environment that mimics your test situation. If you're studying with music on, it would help you only if you were writing your test with music on. With that said, any kind of sound, including instrumental music is distracting and prevents you from memorizing things as efficiently.

Gurbir you're right, we learned this in psychology. There was a study done where someone would study intoxicated and when they took their exam - they did bad. But, when they were intoxicated while studying, and drunk during taking the exam they did better!
