There is only traditional (desi) dhols which are rope tuned on both sides and more modern/fusion dhols which have nut/bolt tuning and/or one side maybe rope tuned. If you get a dhol from an Ustaad, they charge you more because they monitor and personally make the whole dhol from start to finish according to their specifications. Every Ustaad has their own style and own preference. Dhols can range anywhere between 50 bucks all the way to 500-600 depending upon the dhol's wood, area of purchase, along with other factors. Your best way to get yourself a nice dhol like a Pakki Talli or Sheesham would be getting one from India and/or Pakistan as they are the main source and manufacturing sites for most dhols. Good Luck.

The dhols we are bringing from India are very high quality traditional (desi) dhols. They are all black Pakki Talli or Sheesham. We get them for my Ustaad. Each dhol will run you about $800.00 without the case. If you want Case with it. It will be 875. If you are interested, please contract_me at ssingh_1@comcast.net

thats way too much for a dhol. Even if it is custom or from an ustaad. My ustaad (Lal Singh Bhatti) would never recommend or consider purchasing a dhol for that much.

I'd recommend anyone working over the internet and spending $800 on a foreign-imported product to have a reliable contact who has worked with the vendor before.

I'm not intending to buy it lol. I have sick sick sick Dhol Saleem. Beautiful studio tuned one. What you need is a strong and powerful bass side. Tilli must be tuned properly also or else it will just sound like cardboard lol.

$800 is something serious for a dhol regardless of the quality. You can get a top of the line dhol for a lot less. My guess is the guy is flipping them for a big time profit.

I will have these dhols by next week. I will post the pictures of them. look at them and see if they are worth $800.00. JAS music from Uk selling production dhol form $500.00 to $700.00. Our dhols are high quality traditional (desi) dhols. If you want production dhol we can also get those for about $500.00. to $600.00

Dude $800 way to much. I guarantee you can get hot and sizzling traditional dhol's like for $250 from India. Dude you gotta lower it a bit. Jas dhols aren't the best either, borrowed my friends once that cost him 500 pounds and didn't sound very nice :s.

Sonny, I have family/friends who have bought top of the line dhols which were tested and approved by ustads for less than half of what you are offering. I don't mean to try and discredit you or anything, but just letting everyone know that the best dhols can be had for a lot less and I would suggest not spending so much.

Man $800 is way too much. When I said 500-600, I meant where the Ustaad would literally make the whole dhol for you, tune it up and everything and charge you that price after shipping it. But Sonny 800 is too much. I suggest you and Nana find another reliable source for your dhols.

Guys if you really want to buy a quality dhol. Go to Amritsar. I got mine from Jalandhar, it was the shop owners actual dhol that was professionally tuned and used for performances by ustaads. The dhol is a beauty. Guess how much it cost..
$350..
