Hey everyone!
I am a new member to BTF, signed up a couple of months ago. Love the forum! I have been using the forum almost everyday and its really helpful tool for everyone in the Bhangra community. Mad props to the founders and creators of the site. But ever since I've been using the forum I haven't been able to figure out some things on the site:

1) Karma - I see it under the member profile when someone posts. What is it? and How does it work? Any significance to it?

2) Member status - I'm a "newbie", but how do you become a full member and etc? Is there a ranking system or a reason?

Those are two things things I haven't been able to understand. If someone could please explain that would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

1) Karma is a forum feature that allows people to "+1" posts and keep track of it. So people with high karma are trustworthy people that seem to post things people agree with. The feature used to have the ability to leave comments on why you gave a +1 to a post, but it's been turned off as we've made upgrades to the forum code

2) Member status is directly linked with number posts, so you are well on your way to losing the "newbie" status!

welcome to forum, glad it's helpful for you!

There is a specific ranking according to how many posts you have like Swi mentioned. All I remember is 400 posts= BTF senior member. I am not to sure about the numbering of how it is according to thr other ranks. But, Senior member is the highest rank an average joe can have.

it SHOULD directly tie with the quality of posts not the number, but then again who would be the judge? haha

people like sonia end up with BTF senior member status just because she likes to post "LOL!" 400 times.

dont hate me sonia <3 hahah

haha jk :) But on the serious note I first started btf 2 years ago. I thought that the ranking was correlated with how long you were on btf. I never knew that posts were involved, so I really didn't post much at first. However, by posting a simple 'lol' or 'that's hot' is just my way of showing I acknowledged their post. There are a lot of people who put their mixes up and want harsh criticism so they can become better artists in the future. In the same retrospect I am posting in some type of nature to keep the posts going. You know how it is when there’s a topic started with no posts. Either no one wants to give feedback (even though they secretly love it), or the topic just sucked. Neet, I promise you if this bother’s you I will assure to only have logical/quality posts from now on <3 :)

The way this works: If I like you and you come on vent/tinychat then your a member of the notorious Young Fateh Bhangra Crew (YFBC). It's that exclusive.

PS: Change the topic to: Newbie on BTF - BTF 101 help?
