News: Man shoots his lawn mower

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin (AP) -- A 56-year-old Milwaukee man is accused of shooting his lawn mower because it wouldn't start.


Keith Walendowski told police he felt he had a right to shoot his mower.

Keith Walendowski has been charged with felony possession of a short-barreled shotgun or rifle and misdemeanor disorderly conduct while armed.

According to the criminal complaint, Walendowski says he was angry because his Lawn Boy wouldn't start Wednesday morning.

He told police: "I can do that, it's my lawn mower and my yard so I can shoot it if I want."

A woman who lives at Walendowski's house reported the incident. She says he was intoxicated.

Walendowski could face up to an $11,000 fine and six years and three months in prison if convicted.

A call to Walendowski's home went unanswered

I agree... guy sounds a little crazy, but if Cheney can shoot someone in the face and not get arrested then this guy should be allowed to shoot his own lawn mower.

But think about how disruptive it is to the lives of the people that live around him. They're gonna panic and be afraid to go outside their houses, especially if it's rare to hear gunshots like that. I think firearms should not be used in residential areas, unless it's for self-protection. But even then, I think I'd rather die or go down fighting than resort to using a gun.

im pretty sure it is illegal to shoot guns in residential areas. u gota be a certain distance away from houses before u can shoot a gun.

I was just gnna link up the Knoxville shooting...but Arjun already did it...it is absolutely ridiculous that someone would open fire in a CHURCH during a play for children? are you kidding me? Also, by the way its looking, the man probably had no motive and is just mentally unstable.....makes you start to think about gun control obviously. I guess this is the price we have to pay for the supposed constitutional "right to bear arms".

I think the mod's need to talk it over with each other. One mod says, if your cool with someone insulting you and vice versa, then lets its fine, which I agree with. Then another one sends myself and vick a letter saying that none of that will be tolerated.

If there are ground rules to be made, I think it would be responsible for those who police the website to be on the same page, that's all I am saying.
