Fatigue was evident throughout and completion of moves was virtually non existent. I thought BBC was your guys's breakout perfomance and that the expectation became to big for this one. I kept waiting for some kind of a wow factor and it was just choreo slapped on top of choreo. I think this was one of those situations where the reputation of the team played a major factor in its placing, just my opinion.
i think too many people on circuit now are only looking for "wow" factors and underrating the bhangra. i respect that they did more bhangra and less hip-hop/tricks/gimmicks etc. the amount of steps they incorporated and the variation in it (regardless of how it was executed) was nice to see.The Honest Truth said:Wasn't a huge fan of the mix at all, could use a lot of work. the 2nd/3rd place teams were no where near this performance i personally thought, but curious to know who you think deserved first here? The Honest Truth said:Wasn't a huge fan of the mix at all, could use a lot of work. Quality of the choreography aside, would you not expect the best team in the circuit to be more consistent in terms of execution and synchronization? The team is young and still gaining experience, but when considering them for the title of best team in the circuit, I would expect them to be more precise in their execution as a team and as individuals. The dancers in the back are not as strong as those in the front and the formations do end up hiding a lot of dancers in the back. If you notice, some of the dancers in the back simply dance differently (ie: doing foot taps across the other foot as oppose to its respective side) and there's messiness when dancers go down for squats, spins or start going fast.mrchicity said:Best team in the circuit.
Believe it or not, I found this to be cleaner than Boston. I know the slip ups were there, but overall execution was more uniform and controlled here. Part of it probably stems from the fact that they didn't do as many crazy innovative moves or formations, they kept it relatively simple for this comp. That said, that's only relative to themselves, because their choreo is still on another level. It's the little touches I really appreciate, like the little four step move they do going into the NJ chicken move w/ khunde. Not many teams do that, I love that they are flashy just through choreo, that they don't do cutesy shit or things symbolic of anything other than bhangra.Sue Sylvester said:Quality of the choreography aside, would you not expect the best team in the circuit to be more consistent in terms of execution and synchronization? While I may disagree about this being the best team in the circuit, this was the best team of the night, on either a folk or a modern rubric. While Boston had more x-factors, I really enjoyed the creativity of the actual choreography here - so many teams these days rely on x-factors for creativity instead of incorporating it into their choreography as well. One of the things that NJ (and the former Warriors) excelled at back in the day, other than creativity, was maintaining that balance between speed and grace throughout the set, highlighting each at various parts of the routine. Some of those graceful segments were when we got to see personality from the dancers and I feel like that's missing with these last two sets with the set being high energy, high speed for almost the entire set with limited moments of contrast.
Couldn't agree more. This was an OK set.The Honest Truth said:Wasn't a huge fan of the mix at all, could use a lot of work. You mean the intro shayer? It's from the track Jalwa by Virsa's very own Gurkawal SidhuRobby Benipal said:Anybody know the name of the intro they used?
I think Virsa used the same one at MCB too.
