NorCal Winners

So I wasn't able to really watch any of the performances but did catch a few seconds of a couple. Out of the teams I saw:

COLUMBIA- You guys did great as I assumed you would, and from the last video I was able to see of yours I saw alot of improvement. It was nice meeting you guys at the mixer and backstage, your all really great people and I hope we are lucky enough to compete at the same show again in the future.

PROJECT- My Fresno de Munde!! You guys are doing a great job in representing Fresno and we all know from experience that no team has ever made it from Fresno and stuck through. So I'm proud of you guys. Each time you guys perform I saw you guys getting better. From Bulldog to Merced to Norcal, you guys are all on the right track.

LAPD- I'm proud of you guys and thought you guys did good even with the given circumstances and made use of the whole stage. I hope I get to see the whole team of what I think is 12 (?) perform live soon!

And now as far as all this talk about fairness, and the judging, and who placed.
Hands down I really thikn Columbia DID deserve 1st. And I'm equally proud of my team MVP for getting second, especially being that Norcal was the first competition we did as a full 14 person team. Alot of people talked to the judges about the scoring and we were all given the same answers. I didn't get a chance to watch PBA so I can't argue about their placing 3rd, but I can say with full honestly and respect that the judging was done fairly and MVP was lucky enough to have alot of support from the crowd.

kinnell- I'm not sure if you attended Norcal, and I'm not sure how many competitions you have been to/ participated in, but judging I think will always be questioned and judges never get the FULL respect they deserve and no disrespect but it's because of ignorant remarks such as your own. Again no disrespect intended but we worked hard and had no hand in placing. None of the judges are our coaches and regardless of whatever scheme you assume was hatched, there were 5 judges from various teams and professions who decided who deserved to place.

Remarks such as your own take away the whole meaning and respect for bhangra. Keep that in mind please. :)

He never said that the judges were unfair, nor did he propose any scheme. It is just a bit unwise to try and justify your own placing by stating that you "knew the judges were fair." You got second place. The decision is final, and there was no need for your team members to somehow legitimize that placing when you already have the trophy. Let your performances do the talking for you and be the bigger man. Remarks such as your own cause a lot of the pettiness in the scene today. I also find it funny that your team continually reassures us that the judging was done fairly. Isn't that the competition organizer's job? I think its fair that you clarified that no judge was affiliated with your team, because I obviously would be upset if someone tried to knock my team's effort, but there is no need to get defensive, that only implies guilt and just makes your team look bad.

Keep in mind this team was developed late 2009 we are all new to competitions and how they work. As far as being defensive its because by saying something like, the only way mvp placed is because of some judge affiliation (which we both just also clarified) knocks off all credibility. Also keep in mind how many times I as well as anyone else being "defensive" have used the words "just to clarify". Simple misconceptions are cleared that way. remember?

Goodness gracious me! WHAT HAVE I DONE? OH NO!!!!

There is no doubt you worked hard. I never said you didn't deserve to place. I never said there was a judging scandal. I simply pointed out an error in logical thought displayed in the post written by your team member Archana.

Keep this in mind. Remarks such as your own take away the whole meaning and respect for Eliot Spitzer. Oh wait, no they didn't. :)

Congrats to all the placing teams, this comp was really fun.
Venue was great and the hotel was conveniently located a few blocks from the venue.
Big shoutouts to Richa from RP and Somia from Capital for helping us out!
Overall, very fun weekend...Modesto is very quiet haha

Hey guys!

First of all wanted to say Congrats to the placing teams on a job well done!

Secondly, I wanted to thank everyone who was part of organizing this competition for making us feel at home and making everything go as smooth as possible. This being our first comp I am thankful that it was well planned and executed.

Lastly, being new to the Bhangra scene, Im looking for some feedback on the Gajjde/Washington team mix. It was my first mix as well as my first year dancing or even being involved in Bhangra so please keep this in mind when responding. I don't need any haters responding to this, if you have something constructive to say then please do, otherwise spend your time doing something more useful. If you guys don't remember the mix, just ask and ill post it up. Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to say that we had a good time at the competition! FTW did a great job at making sure we had everything we needed-- the welcome baskets were a nice touch! Several times during the weekend, Ash personally contacted us to find out how we were doing. Plus, he picked us up from the hotel in San Jose and drove us to Modesto, even though I'm sure he was very busy. The liason's were great as well, we loved Nishi and Regina! It was a weekend that all of us from Chicago will definitely not forget!

Congratulations to all of those who placed, we hope to perform with you all in the future!
