Sure xenophobia is universal, but last I checked, the only country (outside of India) where innocent Sikhs have been murdered in cold blood simply because of their appearance and for being mistaken as terrorists, is the US. First Balbir Singh Sodhi in Arizona. Now these 2 in California. Bringing this up doesn't make me anti-american. Quite the contrary actually. I am simply stating a fact. The real issue isn't even xenophobia. It's Islamaphobia and our current political and media culture which perpetuates it.Ashveer said:I don't understand anti-americanism when this b.s. happens when xenophobia is universal, whether it be in Quebec, Elk Grove, or Ayodhya...the list goes on. I have to say this is very saddening and unfortunate, especially because Elk Grove/Sacramento is so multicultural and diverse.

there is a clear and obvious distinction between being attacked and murder. sikhs have been the victims of attacks all over the world because of ignorance and racism. spain, england, canada, australia - you name it. i personally know a ton of sikhs who have been attacked in america. that's not the point. my point was that in America it has been taken to the next level and you've seen outright murder of innocent Sikhs because they look like "terrorists". its sad and pathetickashkoor15 said:Sadly it isnt only in America....Indians..including a sikh were attacked in Australia a few years back..
It is pure ignorance. A lot of minority groups get attacked throughout the world. I am a Kashmiri and my family has been kicked out from Kashmir for 21 years. It is unfortunate and it is sad that this happened in the "land of the free," but it happens everywhere regardless of how supreme the country is.
