but no ones "sneaking" or stealing the mix, it was made public by the person who posted it, so shuldnt they be aware that teams might use their mix?AnkurK said:thats fine man but every single time any team from india copied LBC's set and took their mix even if it was for a small event like a college show they got BASHED is it fair for panj to use mixes without consent?
lets say you have a videogame and i come over and take it when ur not home
i msg u later and say hey i took your videogame hope u dont mind
wouldnt u just be like wtff? u couldve just asked me...
the same principle applies here
the videogame and the mix are both things that do not hold much value in life but this was a situation where someone, for the sake of going with the example, was home.
When being home, it wouldve been better to ask rather than sneak into the room and take it.
Asking would have netted the same result.
it would be a different situation if permission was asked prior to usage instead of just stating it after everything was said and done
theres a double standard being applied to panj and its fucked up
thats fine man maybe the sneaking stealing was a wrong choice of words but the point is the same, it should be with consentKaran V said:but no ones "sneaking" or stealing the mix, it was made public by the person who posted it, so shuldnt they be aware that teams might use their mix?AnkurK said:thats fine man but every single time any team from india copied LBC's set and took their mix even if it was for a small event like a college show they got BASHED is it fair for panj to use mixes without consent?

C'mon Harkiran, you're better than this. You took the time to post the video on BTF, you can easily take the time to give credit to whatever teams' mixes you took. And seriously, you only had one day to come up with a routine so you borrowed clips? Did you misplace the last 4 years of PANJ mixes? Hit me up next time, I think I have a few PANJ mixes on my laptop!Hkiran said:We put a lot of teams mixes together for this performance, just in case something sounds familiar. Just because you would be flattered doesn't mean everyone else would be flattered. This may have been just a non-competitive mela, but it was a full-team performance for what seemed to be a large audience. I would ask permission from teams for any paid performance (ie: non family gig) or any performance with more than 2 people or any performance in front of an audience size exceeding 50 people.Hkiran said:I never thought such an issue would arise with a mela routine. If anything we're usually flattered when people incorporate our moves into routines.
Agreed. You're not giving credit if you simply say "We used someone else's mix.". That's a cop-out. Even if you use a 10 second clip of another team's mix, you should have enough courtesy to give them individual credit, especially if the team was unaware that you were used their mix in the first place.jasraj93 said:k so they shud atleast give credit or something... i remember i posted a mix a lil while ago and erryone wus on my ass about not giving credit to people for whos mix we used. why wus it such a big deal then and not now? LOL
just me 2 cents..
There's a difference between saying "We used BCC's mix in our routine" and saying "If something sounds familiar, we used other team's mixes". The former is giving credit and the latter is being really vague and simply acknowledging that you didn't mix everything yourself. It's a cop-out.Karan V said:but no ones "sneaking" or stealing the mix, it was made public by the person who posted it, so shuldnt they be aware that teams might use their mix?

the only reason i had a problem wus cuz wen i posted a mix a while back people kept saying u didnt give credit to the people who made da mix... and it wus an unrealeased track i just posted it cuz people kept asking me about it so i just decided to post it for people to listen too. buh w.eAshveer said:I understand being upset that "formal credit" wasn't given, but isn't this the reason that we put holds on mixes and videos? I've been "stealing" shit from teams for years for my university's south asian students show, and I have a hard time understanding why its such an enormous problem. I'm pretty sure that teams have done this before, the only transgression PANJ made was to not acknowledge here on BTF exactly whose stuff they used. Shit, I could start crying about how X teams jacked Empire's formations/concepts and them in a competitive setting...get over it. Its bhangra, encourage each other rather than complaining.
Great advice.! Honestly i agree with everyone... Something dear to you like a routine or a mix made was used in a performance and yes, it was PANJ's mistake to not accredit those that originally made the mixes.. But really? We don't need to to start a "war" on btf!Ashveer said:Its bhangra, encourage each other rather than complaining.
but then how are people getting it i dont get it :/jasraj93 said:i swear i must have said this 100 times now:| its unreleased u cant get it untill its out its by surjit sagar sher punjabi....Karan V said:sickk..good job boys
