thank you

i guess this is how it feels watching your child(plastic saaps, not aalok) go off to school for the first time.
i started making em, shared the design, and kept making because shaunk si, shaunk naal banayi chal. eventually plastic saaps will be what everyone uses for bhangra. i'm looking forward to seeing that happen.

lol i have enough material sitting around to make an all aluminum saap, but i think that might be a lil over kill. getting access to cnc is gonna let me do some complex designs so we'll see what i come up with next

hahaha aluminum saaps ;D you would use those if you wanna do the shikkah segment and get jacked at the same time loll

ya a CNC router opens up a whole different world of customization that otherwise would be too labor intensive

Gentlemen, I propose the first international Shikke Competition*.

Here is the judging rubric:

Technical Execution (45 pts)
> Quality of Build & Engineering
> Weight & Density
> Durability & Toughness
> Hardness
> Tensile Strength
> Fleekness
...etc

Artistic Execution (45 pts)
> Creativity
> Appearance
> Sound
> Smell
> Taste
...etc

Overall Impression (10 pts)

Bonus Points for:
> Low Cost
> Thermal Properties (flame resistant)
> Electrical Properties
> Low toxicity & carcinogenicity
> Biocompatibility
> Self-healing (whether through polymer/fiber composites or nanites)
> Recyclability
> Edibility

* Not limited to just Plastic saaps. No discrimination, this isn't just a modern competition - wooden saaps can compete too. I, for one, prefer my saaps covered in tin foil. Smelling fresh, warm to touch. Also, spicy. Actually, I just prefer burritos.

sooo down!!! time to show these young'ns who the boss is.

hmmm warm to the touch, saaps with internal heating elements?
how about weaponized saaps?
saaps with bluetooth speakers mounted on the handles, for when you wanna play while you play?
saaps with built in fitbit to tell you how many calories you burn while playing?

We used Kamal's plastic saaps for blowout this year and the team loved it. It didn't take long to break them in.

Sometimes the saaps bend outwards on extensions, but it doesn't take long to adjust your grip and get used to it.

I'd highly recommend making the switch from wooden to plastic.

thanks for the feedback and glad you guys liked them! im looking into material that will flex less (as hardeep knows lol) i find that generally happens more when they are being broken into

hahaha! this is too good sir.

Let's add to the criteria: minus points for using the saap before a sher.

I have the perfect judge for you ;)

I wouldnt mind a chocolate sundae flavoured saap. Having a cheeky lick during the set to satisfy my dessert cravings

fact is that saaps wont flex when held and played correctly. flexing is caused by people pushing on the handle surface outwards with their palms instead of just holding the handle with their fingers like theyre supposed to, it's actually this moment that leads to wooden saaps breaking.
there are 3 ways to prevent flexing
1) thicker hdpe, more stiffness equals less flex, but cost increases significantly
2) different material, higher density materials will flex less, but cost increases significantly
3) add wide washers to the center row of screws under the screw head and the nut, this is the cheapest option. adding steel washers will increase the surface area of where the load is distributed when flexing. so instead of the load being applied to just the screw head bottom or nut surface, which allows for a larger length of the slat to deform, a large washer will restrict the severity of the deformation.
