for ecu bhangra last year...we practiced for literally about 1 1/2 hours for 4 out of the 5 weekdays...and before competitions...we'd practice 2 hrs every single weekday and 4 hours on the weekends.
this year...we have sooooo many new people and it means that as captain, i reallyyy cant treat this team the same. i have to push the young ones who are completely new to bhangra harder and expose them more - and at the same time i hvae ot make sure i dont necessarily overwork them or burn them out to the point it becomes a job to do bhangra.
this year we practice from 7-9 in a smaller dance room where we work on our execution in set spots (everyone spread out)...then when we're through w/ our work there...we move to the big dance studio and practice from about 10 - 1130 every weekday. this is due part because thats when we get the big studio..and also the 1-2 hours we get in the small studio relalyyy make a big diff. b/c instead of wasting time...we learn the song we need to and perfect the execution of the moves...formations are put into play during the second part of prac...so far it's been working (kinda)..and i like thi smethod for a new and young team. we had 8 seniors graduate out of 12 dancers

but nonetheless even with 8 new dancers, im very impressed on the motivation that our new freshmen have, and the work ethic that they've put up...these guys/girls just dont want to learn the move, they wnat to perfect it, put nakhra in it, go above and beyond how it's done, and to help the team in any way possible. no one complains about their spots on stage, they work their hardest equally at practice whether theyre 1st or last joridar...which is something i absolutely love about this team.
