That is much much easier said than done....we converse on BTF or POL for however months include the off-season, it is very difficult not to form some sort of an expectation...if you can do it...all the power to you.

but how much can you expect off of a forum?
i would assume the awkwardness wouldnt be there since you know you have some things in common (wthe hardest thing when meeting someone) so the ice is broken and can carry on.
but i can be wrong...

all in all, you're basically expecting to have the same relationships as you do online. Everyone is much more comfortable online where you are free to express your opinions openly. In person you are not the same person you are online because you're not "acting" the same way and you're not being as explicit with your opinions, etc. Thats what is meant by the awkwardness. But like I said, few people are the same in person as they are online. But then when the afterparty rolls around and you have a couple of drinks, lol, everyone gets to know each other REALLLLLLLLL well. hahha

that is soo true...or even without drinks...when your actually hanging out in the hotel lobby after the competition/after party...you get to know people really well. Idon't know if its just me...but i personally think thats when people leave the whole "we're competing" mentality...and actually get social. only some people are like that tho...from personal experience...=]
