This is ideally how bhangra Should be though
Why?
Not this new modern b.s. that a lot of teams are doing (co ed teams)
How is this not "modern"? Show me any evidence of people dancing like this before 2000s.
Has alot to do with ppl not affiliated with the roots of bhangra though trying almost to change it
Who around is affiliated with the roots of bhangra?
Why is it wrong for these boys to do jhoomer to that song Its Folk Its Punjabi its the way it should be done
There is nothing remotely folk about it. BTW, speaking of things Punjabi and the way things should be done, the word is "jhummar."
Everyone misunderstands my meaning of folk and I should just stop saying it. When I said folk I'm talking about Similar to it modernized but not completely modernized like other teams now adays. A lot of people are, Bhangra obviously gets passed down generation from generation and all I ment by that is a lot of people doing bhangra now adays doesn't now the original roots of it hence alot of bhangra is the way it is now
I am happy to try to understand what you mean. However, I think you're speaking without the facts.
So you're saying that when you say "folk" you mean "similar to folk"? That's what I read in what you just said.
This is a jhummar style not developed until after around 2004 and, in my opinion, not appreciably similar to any "folk" jhummar that came before it. I am not sure exactly when you'd say that the jhummar you call "modernized" came about (2009? 2010? 11?).
With these facts in mind, it is confusing to hear you assert that 2008 jhummar is more proper or more "folk" than 2012 jhummar.
I'd actually find it interesting to see you do a side by side comparison of this 2008 jhummar and a 2012 one, and point out the differences. I think it's totally valid to personal prefer one over the other. However, let's be straight on what is "folk" and "modern," and let's be clear that our judgements are based in personal preferences, and might not be supported by propriety or tradition or history.
