This is poorly written, and I don't understand your point. Are Punjabis forgetting something? Are Punjabis forgotten? Are Sikhs forgotten? And why is it wrong to remember people who served in uniform? At one point you then make a link from Punjabis to Sikhs...why? There is a way to positively talk about the sacrifices and history of Sikh fighters/struggles, yet, you choose to offend those who serve valiantly in battle, with a positive purpose in mind. Instead of you talking about how you're being taught about white people, and how your taught to remember them, why don't you be an advocate for the minority voice? Try that instead of talking about something you speak very poorly about.

Completely agree with Jasmeet here. It's veterans day in America, they are remembering all veterans who served in uniform, you seem to be the only one making the assumption that it's for "ghore" only. Seems like the usual "fuck america" attitude that many "hardcore wanna be gangster" punjabi take. And what is the purpose of the yellow, purple, and blue?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we should not remember the individuals who died in 1984. I just don't understand why you have all this hate for Americans celebrating Veterans Day?

Exactly, preaching against 'hate' for Sikh/Punjabis (i'm confused if he's talking about populace in general or soldiers or what) but he's just hating on others as well

Has the American military committed atrocities? Everyday. Are there soldiers though who do great service and help people abroad? Absolutely.

As a country we are terrible at coming to grips with these two realities. Veterans day actually used to be Armistice Day, a remembrance of the end of 'The Great War' and the millions of lives lost and maimed and ruined for nothing but politics.

We should return to that, and remember all the terrible things we do to each other. Don't forget 1984, but don't celebrate military atrocities with misguided Punjabi/Sikh militarism.

When we wear a poppy we don't just do it for some "goreh" that fought for THIS country (which we conveniently live in so please show some respect) but it's to remember anyone that wore a uniform for his country, whether they were on our side or not. Sure our soldiers were told to kill the "enemy" but the real enemy is the government behind the army. Soldiers on the other side are told to do the same thing. You say it as if these men didn't have a family waiting for them at home.
So when you say that instead this year we should remember the ones that fought for us, don't forget that these white guys that died in the war are part of the reason you are living such a great life in our fine country, where you have the luxury of having a computer to tell us about your opinion, as tasteless as it may be.

To be honest with you all folks. . . 84 has been forgotten by most of the Sikhs, especially those who lives outside of INDIA N' its a FACT!!! Sikhs have been through a lot N' we have no support of INDIAN Gov't what so ever or ever had their support!!! Those who have lost their loved ones during 84 can understand what really 84 means to those!!! We here can talk all we want but the point is this "Can we do something about 84?" NO!!!

I see people here in U.S. talk about "khalistan khalistan" but screaming N' yelling for "khalistan" here in foreign countries isn't going to solve or get anyone "khalistan". If these folks really want "khalistan" they need to go to INDIA and fight for it, which no one is willing to do so!!! (off-topic)

p.s. In INDIA, Sikhs N' Indian Gov't are the two opposite matters that can never be solved!!! N' as long as Sikhs are in India, they can never be treated fairly!!!

What does Khalistan have to do with the 1984 genocide?

If you want to learn about Indian history you shoulc go to Khalsa School or go to school in India. Personally, I believe it would make no sense for a Canadian or American school to teach children about another countries history.
