Separate Section for Mixes

I have a ton of mixes from my old Soormay days and LBC that I'd be willing to put up (once I have time). Can we get a separate section on this forum for mixes?

i agree, a place to post media for sharing would be awesome for being built into the forum...for now, i use www.adrive.com, you can share media that way, and it will give you a download link that you can give out to people slash post on boards

I am working on an enhancement that allows you to easily attach media (mp3s, working on video) to your messages.

I am evaluating storing these files on BTF servers or automatically filing them at yousendit or rapidshare. We'll see. More info in the coming day(s).

When the feature comes online, yes, we can create a "Media" section.

I've added allowance for attachments up to 15 MB/each, so people can upload their high-quality mixes etc. If your mix is over 15 MB, we should be upping it soon, and you can try to ZIP the file.

Although I can easily upgrade to 1,500 GB/month bandwidth as needed, I think video is best left to youtube and the like. You can even post HD video on www.vimeo.com.

I am testing here with a small remix that was publicly posted online.

This is a test message. After much digging, I had to up a PHP max_upload_limit to 15 MB to get it to work. Size can be increased by posting to yousendit, which I'll try to integrate soon.

This is a test of a larger file. SGPD's mix from AVAP was freakin amazing to say the least. Well done. Oh and it's over 15MB.

Okay I have finished setup on a new Media Center! Whenever you make a post or reply and attach music or a video (or images), the Media Center will automatically pick it up and collect all the media in one place. This way we don't need a separate board that's cut off. You have the benefit of an integrated board, and the functionality of a dedicated Media Center.

Users who are logged in will see the "Media Center" link in their menu. You can see the files available and press the speaker to play them; there is an embedded player that streams the file. You can then choose to download it. Only logged-in members can download so that random people won't be downloading mixes, etc.

Also, the attachment limit has raised to 20 MB. I am debating whether it's worth it to host video here; there are plenty of sites online that specialize in that.
